Palestine-Israel, The joint struggle not only in occupied west bank not only about settler colonialism*

This week the focus of struggle enlarged a bit to include the ugly racist politics of the Israeli naZionist establishment regarding the refugees. The same strategy of sporadic vicious attacks on the back ground of ongoing harassment and pressure to get out applied to the Palestinians within the 1968 borders and the new 1967 ones is also applied to the 53 thousands African refugees. The racism inbuilt in the Zionist settler colonialism which built Israel and expand it in every opportunity is only refraining from harsher measures because of international pressure. Though Israel never adopted international conventions (with support of overwhelming majority of its Jewish community) it refrain from prolonged defying them. Thus, it did not kill the refugees freely on the border. It just make them as miserable as it can and put increasing numbers in a concentration camp.

Nabi Saleh 27/12/2013

Demonstration against the occupation
Israeli forces shot a local female activist from Nabi Saleh Manal Tamimi today with rubber coated steel bullets from a close range. In addition to Manal, two more Palestinians and two journalists Abbas Momani and Maath Mash'al were lightly injured.
Manal was hit with 4 rubber coated steel bullets in her knees and legs and was later taken to a hospital in Ramallah. Another girl from Nabi Saleh was also taken to hospital after being hit with skunk water. Dozens protestors have also suffocated from tear gas shot at them during the protest.
Israeli forces attacked the protestors in the village who protest weekly against the settlements with tear gas canisters, sound grenades, rubber bullets, rubber coated steel bullets and skunk water.

Qadum

"Hello everyone. What happened yesterday in Qadum is hard to describe. Long before we arrived - around ten o'clock' the occupation army was inside the village. The quantities of teargas fired was unbelievable. The Israeli state forces positioned soldiers on rooftops and fired from there aplenty. Conduct of members of the village was awe-inspiring. The absence of Murad and the circumstances
around the efforts to his release instilled in the villagers energies which are hard to describe in words. The atmosphere was impressive all the villagers demanded freedom.
Some of us know the efforts made to the justified release of Murad which was not sure to succeed. The respect we got from the friends in the village was far above and beyond what we deserve. All the houses were open to us and people came to congratulate and thank us.
One demonstrator was wounded in the head, got treatment in the village including stitches.

South Hebron hills

Saturday, 28-12-13,
A new post on yesterday's Ta'ayush activity. A weird encounter with the police. A weird encounter with a coexistence group. Another weird day of struggle against apartheid.
Israeli police try to block anarchists reaching South Hebron hills:
A police car stops the transit. The cop approaches asking if we’re anarchists. “We’re here to identify anarchists, and send them back!” He explains. He asks for IDs or passports. G refuses, saying there’s a court rule against arbitrary controls that forces police to conduct a search only with a provable suspicion. The cop threatens to detain him if he doesn’t identify himself. Uriel jumps in and presents his ID.
“Mr. V, are you anarchists?” The cop asks.
“Am I an anarchist?!” Uriel exclaims, and shuffling through his wallet, says: “Do you see an anarchist ID in here?”
The group is then released. This possibly immortal scene was captured in a hilarious video

Tel Aviv

Saturday 28-12-13 late evening. About 15 thousands African refugees and few hundred Israelis converged near Tel Aviv central bus station and marched to the municipal city square.
About 100 activists of the anarchist scene were among the marchers. Half the march was in silence and in the second half the shout "freedom" shacked the streets.
"NOW IN TEL AVIV: Thousands of African asylum seekers hold a 'silent march' to protest Israel’s immigration policies. The marchers are calling for the release of all refugees imprisoned under the Prevention of Infiltration Law, and for the recognition of their rights as refugees. Jewish Ethiopian women attempted to defend African asylum seekers and prevent their arrests during immigration raids that took place in south Tel Aviv (near the central bus station) Monday night.
Nationalist Israelis also showed up to support the police and cursed the Ethiopian Jewish women, shouting at them racist slogans, including, “Go back to Ethiopia.”

Don’t say we didn’t know #393

In 2003, the IDF blocked the main entrance to the Palestinian village Qaddum. Since then, the army has limited the residents’ access to their land (some 11 square kilometers or 11,000 dunams) near that main entrance road, to only once or twice a year. In 2011, the residents started weekly demonstrations, calling for the roadblock to be removed. In response, the IDF started attacking the village. Those attacks include nightly incursions and arrests (about 100 people have been arrested so far). Often, during those incursions, IDF soldiers throw tear gas and stun grenades into residents’ homes.

On 8th December, 2013 a two month old baby was injured by a tear gas grenade thrown into his home. He was taken to hospital where they saved his life.

On Friday, 20th December, 2013 IDF soldiers carried out a night raid and arrested two people, who were released after a while. The soldiers raided the home of the head of the popular committee, Murad Ashtawi, and interrogated him aggressively. A few hours later, soldiers returned to the village and arrested him. After he had been caught, he was sprayed with pepper spray and taken into custody in Huwwara. By Sunday morning he had still not been interrogated.

Palestine-Israel, the joint struggle start to worry the Israeli ruling elite, and the involved with the Bedouin struggle pay for it.

The unprecedented prolonged pre trial detention of the involved with the Hura demo against transfer of the Bedouins - including a Jew may be in revenge of the dropping of the Praver transfer law, or a sign of an entirely new mode of suppression of dissent of the left. The state forces pressures on the Palestinians involved in the joint struggle escalate. The new front of conflicts of state with the African refugees escalate. The failor of state to comply with the passed law against building concentration camps for refugees ignited a resistanc of the refugees culminated in few thousand demo on Saturday late evening in commercial part of Tel Aviv to which few hudred Israeli activists joined. The "electricity in the air" seemed to promise that the 50 thousand refugees are not going to take it passively any more. Israel may be forced to comply with the international refugees conventions.

Refugees Freedom march

150 African asylum seekers jailed in Israeli concentration camp who were transfered from a closed camp to a semi open one started a march from the south to the Jerusalem capital government compound on the 15.12.2013 supported for logistics by Israeli activists. Palestine-Israel, The cold wave and the snow could not stop the joint struggle

In spite of the unusual cold whether and snow, Friday demonstrations against the occupation and suppression and settlers infringements continued. Israelis failed to arrive to Qaddum but were there morally, Ni'ilin, and Bil'in were easier to arrive and so was Sheikh Jarakh where activists from the west Jerusalem waded the heavy snow. The struggle of the Bedouins and supporters against their transfer caused the freezing of the Prawer plan law continue focused on the efforts to release the 13 demonstrators in Hura two weeks ago still not released from jail. The struggle against the concentration camps for the African refugees took a turning point when about 150 of them defied the cold whether and started a 200 kilometer march to the Israeli Parliament in Jerusalem with activists make efforts to give logistic support. In solidarity with them Bedouin activist from Arakib village (already destroyed more than 50 times decided to join the marchers.

Prawer plan

It seems that the mighty Israeli elite which is carelessly gambling with the future of passive masses get cold feet when signs of resistance start to appear. The initiators of the Prawer plan of transferring tens of thousands of Bedouins were a bully when it was just the resistance of the village of Arakib... but lost all bravado when a mass demo in Hura signaled a mass resistance alarm... and they temporarily took down the suggested law needed to apply it.

Two weeks since the demo in Hura and still not all arrested been released.

Palestinian-Bedouin and Israeli-Jewish activists gathered in front of the Beersheba courthouse to protest the ongoing detention of 13 protesters, including 5 minors, who have been in jail since the anti-Prawer day of rage on 30.11. Among the protesters was also Sheikh Sayah al-Tori from al-'Araqib, who was recently released from detention following his insistence to keep on living on his lands, which the state intends to expropriate. While protesters stood outside calling for the release of the Prawer detainees, inside a bail hearing was held for an Israeli-Jewish activist who was arrested on the 30.11 day of rage and has been incarcerated ever since. In a previous discussion, the state's attorney rejected the proposed guarantors, arguing that they participated in the same demonstration and that they share the same ideological stance. This, although the proposed guarantors identified as employed by NGOs that promote nonviolence.

The march of the refugees

They have nothing to lose but their chains
In act of civil disobedience, 150 Sudanese refugees walk out of Israeli 'open prison'. 150 Sudanese asylum seekers are currently making their way to Jerusalem, from an 'open prison' in Israel's south, to protest their continued detention without trial and demand recognition as refugees. The group first marched to Be'er Sheva, where they spent the night in the city's bus station. Activists were there to bring them food and blankets as they braved near-freezing temperatures. Palestine-Israel, The joint struggle monthly convergence starting this Saturday in Nabi Saleh*

The joint struggle of the anarchists against the wall with popular comities of the villages which persist in weekly struggles was promoted first time when a joint comity was organized and sporadic joint actions were organized by it. This month another promotion was done and a monthly convergence of all the activists involved - this time in Nabi Saleh was done. This week, the intensifying of the Israeli transfer efforts of Palestinians and the struggle against it was focused this week on the Praver plan to transfer in one step 40,000 Bedouins within the 1948 border. There were demonstration in various location in Israel picking in the more than thousands participant in Hura at the Bedouin region. The social struggle within israel which was al along the last two years in very low intensity seems to collect some momentum.

Bil'in

Palestinians, international and Israeli activists demonstrated in Bil'in near the separation wall. The soldiers tried to prevent us from approaching the gate in the wall but part of us succeeded to pass them. There they threatened us and used tear gas to make us go away but we persisted there for long minutes till they forced us to gradually move away. After an hour the end of the demo was declared by the organizers and the unofficial confrontation between the shabab and the soldiers continued for nearly two additional hours.

"Dear friends every Friday is the worse am so sorry: This Friday the Israeli army put check point in the entrance of the village and announce it closed military area and didn’t allow the media and ambulances and internationals from entering kufr Qaddum.
Our march began at 12pm but the army didn’t allow us to reach the usual place and began to shoot tear gas canisters towards us directly. Bashar shtaiwi 43 was injured in his stomach and Naser Braham 43 in his arm, in addition to tens of who suffocated by tear gas.
The clashes were very hot and strong because the army attack the village and the clashes happened between houses. The army targeted my house and damaged the glasses of the windows and attached another house in the same way. Hundreds of tear gas canisters, sound bombs and rubber coated metal bullets were shot during our march today.

Friday, Dozens of Palestinians with internationals and Israelis of the anarchists against the wall marched in Nabi Saleh against the Israeli occupation, and marked 2 years since the death of Mustafa Tamimi with a march that began at his graveside. Mustafa was shot in the head at close range with a tear gas canister during the weekly demonstration in his village in 2011. On this matter today the Israeli army announced stopping the investigation over who killed Mustafa claiming that the soldier who fired the gas canister did not see Mustafa.

The Nabi Saleh popular committee invites activists to join them on Saturday for an event marking the fourth anniversary of the beginning of the struggle as well as commemorating the martyrs Mustafa and Rushdi Tamimi.

The new monthly convergence of the activists of the joint struggle in Bil'in, Ni'ilin, Nabi Saleh, Qaddum and Ma'asara happened in this Saturday. It started with speeches includin in memory of Nelson Mandela. A tribute to Nelson Mandela in Nabi Saleh. "We know too well that our freedom is incomplete without the freedom of the Palestinians".
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151709835332554
After the speeches, the Palestinians, Israeli and international solidarity activists, marched down the road to the spot where Tamimi was shot, where they stopped and spelled out his name with stones. The procession continued to face the IOF soldiers near the checkpoint, and from there, to the valley across from the confiscated al-Qaws spring. IOF responded with barrages of tear gas, rubber-coated steel bullets and stun grenades. No major injuries reported.

The protest was also about the suppression and arrest of participants of the previous Saturday demo at Hura. After a long while we started marching in the main roads at the center of town and around the national theater compound.

Don’t say we didn’t know #391

A midnight ago IDF put new road block at the entrance to the village.
’Izbet a-Tabib is a Palestinian village, east of Qalqilia, mostly inhabited by 1948 refugees from Dubsur (next to Ra’anana). Thirty three of its homes have received demolition orders. Two have already been demolished. A few months ago, the school received a demolition order as well. So the residents erected a protest tent near the school.
On Sunday, 24th November, 2013, the IDF put a road block at the entrance to the village for an hour and a half. Afterwards, some soldiers raided the village a few times. In one of the raids, they carried out an aggressive search of the protest tent. After midnight, a small force entered the village and threw tear gas grenades around the village.
It should be mentioned that the village activism is strictly nonviolent, so there’s no need for the military to employ many soldiers in their raids, which have included arrests.

Palestine-Israel, The joint struggle is facing high escalation in all fronts

The more the naZionist settler colonialist transfer efforts are frustrated by world's imperial powers - the more vicious are the efforts to implement them. The yielding to the European demand to sign the partial ban on investment in 1967 occupied regions are "compensated" by transfer efforts within the 1948 borders. The efforts to transfer in one step tens of thousands of Bedouins in the south is the most prominent one... and the rising rebellion encourage the activists within Israel. Around 300 Israeli activists - Jews and Palestinians joined more than 1000 local Bedouins demo in Saturday afternoon. Hundreds of state force personals who dispersed the demonstration after a long while - in response to stone throwing started by undercover secret service. This was an appropriate pick for the weekend struggle and joint struggles against occupation and the creeping transfer in the occupied west bank region.

Bil'in

Imad Bornatt take his fresh Emmy Award tropy to the confrontation with the Israeli state forces his 5 cameras documentary is about.
The highlight of the demonstration in Bil'in was the international EMI award, held by Imad Burnat, creator of "5 broken cameras", as he approached the soldiers. The excitement about the award did not prevent the soldiers from arresting Muhammad Khatib, and trying to scare other non violent protesters away from the gate, marking imaginary lines, staging pretend chases, and playing juvenile turf games, only with guns. Three young children approached the soldiers and staged a sit-in in front of their Jeep; these were the boys of Khatib, who was released after three hours. The demonstrated that backed away from the soldiers, like those trying to stone them away from the hill and grove were gassed and shot. A couple of demonstrators were hit by rubber coated bullets and required medical treatment.

Nabi Saleh:

The weekly demonstration in the Ramallah-district village of Nabi Saleh marked the international day of solidarity with Palestinians announced this week by the UN. Protesters, villagers accompanied by Israeli and international solidarity activists, marched from the village's center, chanting against the Prawer plan, which is expected to displace at least 30,000 Bedouins in the Naqab / Negev and replace them with Jewish-only settlements.
The IOF attempted to disperse the march using tear gas and rubber-coated steel bullets, eventually raiding the village and arresting two local brothers, Raf'at (25) and Muhammad (19) al-Tamimi.

Next Friday, the weekly demonstration will mark the two years anniversary of the murder of Mustafa Tamimi, who was shot with a tear gas canister to his head from inside an armored military jeep. The local popular committee is calling for activists to join and show solidarity.

Yaffa

Demonstration against the Prawer Plan, at old Jaffa Clock Tower 28.11.2013
Activists from Yafa and Tel Aviv, both Jews and Palestinians, took to the street Thursday evening to protest against the Prawer plan which will displace at least 30,000 Bedouins in the Naqab / Negev and mobilize for the upcoming third day of rage planned for 30.11. Protesters held banners against the mass displacement and ethnic cleansing and calling for an international boycott of Israel. Demonstrators then briefly blocked the main thoroughfare into Yafa near clock tower square, bringing traffic to a halt.

".... Saturday 30-11-13 protest is expected to be the largest one yet; the so called “Day of Rage” will take place simultaneously in the village of Hura, in Jerusalem, Ramallah, Haifa, Gaza, Cairo, Berlin, The Hague and other cities around the world."

Hura

Saturday afternoon, more than thousand Bedouins of the region joined by hundreds of Israeli Palestinians and others. We were dozen or so anarchists of the anarchists against the wall initiative and the anarchist-Communist Ahdut (Unity). After a long while, after a few undercover state agents started it, few kids started too to throw stones... and gave excuse to the Israeli state forces to attack the demonstrators and arrest 16 of them - including one pupil of grammar school. www.youtube.com/watch?v=hEMZohuCUEk

" Today, Nov 30, was the 3rd 'Day of Rage' against the horrible Apartheid law of the Prawer plan to ethnically cleanse and develop the Naqab (Negev) for Jews only. The demonstration in Hura, planned as the main event of the third "Day of Rage," was spirited but peaceful, until, as many eye witnesses say, undercover policemen began to throw stones at the riot and horse-mounted police, who retaliated by charging into the crowds and provoking them. As the situation escalated, some youths began to hurl stones at the fully armed policemen, while the latter fired barrages of tear gas, stun grenades and rubber bullets, and brutally arrested 29 people, including a 10 year old child who was dragged on the ground before taken away in a squad car. Many of those arrested were also severely beaten up, and needed medical attention. Large forces besieged Hura, and remained in the area throughout the night.

"....I found myself hiding from rocks, tear gas and water behind the car when a police pig suddenly jumps in front of me, grabs a stone and aims to crush it in my face, and then sees I am a Jewish woman. he was so surprised the rock fell from his hand and he ran away. all around i saw police throwing stones at the shabab, which is pretty pathetic considering they were armed from head to toe."

Protests continued into Saturday night as Bedouin youth blocked the main road leading from Hura to Arad in the Negev. Earlier in the day, over 1,000 people converged on the Negev as part of a 'Day of Rage' against the Prawer Plan. If implemented, the Prawer Plan would displace tens of thousands of Bedouin citizens of Israel. +972 and Activestills are running a live blog, with constant updates and pictures from the protests taking place in cities across Israel and Palestine. "I never got around to write about the energy tanks that recharged by seeing the 50 people who had been waiting for us by the Clock Tower, and the adrenaline rush generated by the second bus, and the protestors that crossed the street to join us in loud chants. I never got around to write about awakening the streets with a march that refused to end, in roads that were being blocked, with more and more people that came and joined. It was a long day, rough, and painful, and there are many people who will spend tonight in a prison cell, in the Naqab, Haifa and Jerusalem, but I'm glad that my day was over in Yafa,..."

After a year in which we got to know physical and sexual violence towards social activists, if in demonstrations if in events, we choose to mark the Women and Human Rights Day by pointing a blaming finger to Israeli Police, who tries while using all the tools at its disposal to silence our voices, reduce the scope of our operation, and impose on us terror when we are fighting against a systematic violation of the rights of women and men

Don't say we don't know #390

On 11th September, 2013 [“9/11”], the IDF demolished the Bedouin village just outside A-Za'im, situated next to E-1 (Don't Say #382). Ever since, the IDF has prevented the residents from rebuilding their village (on land they bought in the 1970s), in the hope that they will leave the place "willingly." Since the demolition, the inhabitants are living in tents provided by the Red Cross, suffering from the cold. Twenty-one lambs or full-grown sheep have died from the cold nights, as the IDF prohibits rebuilding of the animal sheds.
~~~~~~~~~
On Tuesday, 19th November, 2013, government representatives escorted by the police came to demolish homes in the Negev.
In Sawawin, south of Road 25, they demolished a home. In El-Fur'a, near Arad, another home. In Segev Shalom, a home. The next day they went on to demolish a home in Bir Hadjaj, near Revivim. That day they also demolished El'Araqib. Later, the sheikh of the village was arrested together with four other residents. Then the residents were set free but the sheikh remained detained.
Palestine-Israel, expiring date of the Zionist settler colonialism is already written on the (separation) wall*
As the value of Israel to the Imperial powers of the west diminish, the restraining orders are issued often. Though Israel stale and fight for time, the bitter truth start to initiate desperate exclamations and careless activities of accelerated transfer efforts - both in the occupied west bank and within Israel (the Bedouins mainly). These days, the failure of israel to ignite the fire of war in Syria, and Iran, and the EU sanctions against the colonial settlement project in the occupied west bank, seems to mark a turning point. It seems that the joint struggle against the occupation and the B.D.S. project start to show more than a localized successes. So do the joint struggle of the anarchists against the wall with the popular comities climb another step: The initiative of the popular comities which initiated till now sporadic activities, initiate now a monthly convergence of all the involved activists.
BIL’IN
In the weekly nonviolent demonstration held in Bil’in against Wall and Settlements Palestinian activists, internationals and 8 Israelis participated. We marched towards the gate in the separation wall. When we arrived to the Wall, Israeli Forces tried to force us back. We resisted in spite of their threats and a few grenade thrown at us. Then they concentrated their attack on a bit far away stone throwing shabab and shy international demonstrators - letting us to stay near the gate. After nearly an hour the end of the demo was declared and we returned to the village passing on the way the Cloud of tear gas shot on the shabab and shט demonstrators. Some injuries resulted from the tear gas canisters, sound bombs, and the rubber-coated metal bullets were reported. They were treated on the field by the ambulance crew. Majd Burnat, 18, was most seriously injured protester. He was shot directly in his back, by rubber-coated bullet. Dozens of other demonstrators were suffocated due to the inhalation of gas from the tear-gas canisters.
AL MA’SARA
Israeli Forces tried to suppress the weekly nonviolent march of Al Masara village. Today’s demonstration was dedicated to the Prawer Plan, worked out by the Israeli government. The plan aims to displace 40.000 Bedouins of the Negev Bedouin population. This resettlement project causes the major forced displacement since the nakba.
The Popular Committee Against the Wall and Settlements, that organized the march, counted dozens of villagers, some foreign activists, and few Israelis. The demonstrators carried Palestinian flags and chanted slogans against the Prawer Plan and the Occupation. When the protesters arrived to the entrance of the village dozens of Israeli soldiers blocked the main street with a row of plastic shields, stopping them to reach their land.
Mahmoud Zawahra, the local coordinator of the Popular Committee Against the Wall and Settlements declared the absolute rejection to the Prawer Plan, he denounced the building of a tent by settlers at the entrance to Tekoa village and demanded the end of the Occupation.
Nabi Saleh
The weekly Friday demonstration in the village of Nabi Saleh commemorated the 29th anniversary of the murder of Bakr al-Tamimi, who was assassinated by the IOF in 1984. Palestinian, Israeli and international activists marched from the center of the village towards a barrier erected by the IOF a decade ago, which blocks one of the main entry ways to the village. From there they continued through the fields and hills towards :Ayn al-Qaws, the spring which was expropriated by the settlers of Halamish. The IOF fired multiple tear gas canisters, rubber bullets and stun grenades in order to suppress the demonstration.
QUFR QADDOUM
In this week's demo in Qaddum there were at least 200 locals, 20 internationals and 3 Israelis. The demo began roughly 10:30 with a large tire fire that was seen some 20km away. As usual pack of soldiers took the hill above the village early on. Unusually, the force descended in a wide row to half the hill's height and kept its line for a long while, firing gas now and again. There were a few policemen in civilian cloths up there with the soldiers.
Another pack of MAGAV was positioned on the main road to Nablus, whose illegal closure is the grievance underlying the demo. This force was armed with the usual jeep and bulldozer, and another beige army truck we've never seen before, which sprayed protesters with its water cannon for a few short minutes and vanished. Both forces fired gas wildly as usual, but invaded the center of the high street only once. Each time they fired gas from a personal grenade launcher, was a direct shot at the demonstrators, and a violation of army regulation. One canister penetrated a house, and another hit one protester in the head. Thankfully it was only a scratch and not much worse.
Kafr Murad Eshtewi, media coordinator of the Popular Struggle Coordination Committee accused the Army of aiming to suppress the weekly march by targeting directly activists and residents. To see the pictures lick on the following link:
Demonstration against the Prawer Plan, 21.11.2013
Over a hundred people, Palestinians and Israeli-Jews, gathered in Jaffa's historic clock tower square in order to protest the Prawer plan, which is projected to displace some 40,000 Bedouins from 'unrecognized villages' in the country's southern region of the Negev (Naqab in Arabic). Protesters held banners against this massive wave of ethnic cleansing, repeated demolitions and arrests of activists. A third day of rage against the Prawer plan is planned for 30.11, with several demonstrations across the country.
Palestine-Israel, The long long struggle of the Palestinians to resist the creeping transfer continue*
The state efforts to extinguish the struggle of grass root communities escalate lately using terror on the villages population in the hope they will put pressure on the activists to stop confronting the Israeli occupation forces. With one success of end to the weekly demonstrations in Beit Ummar they still hope for more. However, the escalation of the transfer efforts in few choice rural areas seems to have the opposite effect. The frustration of the Israeli state is expressed in the huge transfer of tens of thousands of Bedouins within Israel. The heroic Bil'in, Ni'ilin, Nabi Saleh, Qaddum, Sheikh Jarrah, South of Hebron Hills, and the coordination comity of the popular struggle, still adhere to the joint straggle with the Israeli anarchists against the wall and other Israeli activists.
Palestinians destroy separation barrier in two West Bank villages
During the early hours of Friday morning, Palestinians in three Palestinian villages took part in a “direct action” to destroy parts of the separation barrier. In Bir Nabala, located on the other side of Route 443, Palestinians used hammers to break open a hole in the wall, while Palestinians in Rafat (near the Ofer Military Prison) cut through 20 meters of the security fence bordering their village.
The army did not arrive during the action, and no mainstream media outlet was invited.
In Bil'in the main gate in the wall was entirely removed, leaving a gaping hole as a surprise for the soldiers.
Bedouins struggle
The creeping transfer of Palestinian citizens within the 1948 borders of Israel continue.
Sunday, Sdeh Boker commune, Government special meeting of ministers decided to evict the Um Hiran tribe 500 people in order to replace them with national religious town-let.
The same tribe was evicted from its ancestors land near Shoval settlers commune 1956. A joint demo in front of the commune resulted with arrest of two and detention of a Palestinian member of Parliament.
At least three activists have been arrested in a protest against the displacement of two Bedouin villages in the Negev. The Israeli cabinet is holding a special meeting at Kibbutz Sde Boker, where Ben-Gurion retired and is buried, to approve the plan. The activists are protesting outside the kibbutz as they meet. After the Bedouin are forcibly relocated to one of Israel's poorest municipalities, the government plans to build a Jewish settlement on ruins where their homes once stood. Even worse, the Bedouin of Umm el-Hiran were actually ordered to live in their current location by the IDF after the state displaced them in 1948. Yaffa demonstration against the Prawer Plan, 16.11.2013
In anticipation of the nationwide "day of rage" on 30.11.2013, Yaffa-based activists, both Palestinians and Jewish, protested at the historical clock tower square against the Prawer plan which threatens to displace at least 30,000 Bedouins from their home in "unrecognized villages" in the Naqab / Negev, in southern Palestine. Even before the plan has been brought to a vote at the Knesset, the Israeli government already decided to demolish Umm al-Hiran and 'Atir, two Bedouin villages, in order to build a Jewish-only settlement, Hiran.
Bil'in
8.11.13 "Bil'in revisited: The small changes in life under occupation
Joining Bil’in’s weekly demonstration against the wall after not attending for a while exposes the little differences in the routine of occupation and resistance.
It’s been a couple of months since my last visit to Bil’in. Not too long, but long enough to suddenly notice those small changes that occur in every living environment, the changes that people can sometimes miss if you’re watching from within.
It started on the way from Tel Aviv. Passing by the settlement of Hashmonaim I was surprised to suddenly realize that there was one less fence in sight – and this in a region where fences and walls tend to multiply, not disappear. The fence in question used to separate olive groves belonging to the nearby village of Ni’ilin from the main highway that serves mostly settlers. After several years of construction, the separation wall in Ni’ilin has been completed and these groves are now unreachable for most villagers; someone must have realized that the fence was no longer needed to protect the highway. The view, naturally, is much nicer when not seen through a metal net, but realizing that the rational behind its removal was linking Palestinian land to settler roads and continuing its detachment from the village made things a bit grimmer.
Next we got to the Ni’ilin checkpoint, or I should say, the place formally known as Ni’ilin checkpoint. Apparently, the entire army base that comprised the checkpoint was recently privatized and is now run by a security company (the name of which was nowhere to be found) and its name changed to the much easier-on-the-ear, “Hashmonaim Crossing.” Not a border crossing, mind you, as it isn’t located on the internationally recognized border and there are still settlers and the army on the other side of it. It’s just a “crossing.”
The soldiers were quick to open fire on the demonstration but seeing as the wind was working against them, their tear gas had little effect. After about two hours of protest, with the occasional dodging of another tear gas canister (or a dozen) and with several local youth throwing stones at the soldiers behind the wall, we made our way back to the village.
Just returned from the flag holding Bil'in Friday 455 (8/11/2013) demo.
Me, another 5 Israelis, dozens of Bil'iners and dozens of international defied the massive teargas shooting for more than an hour near the gate in the wall but most of us out of the range of state force shooting.
Bil'in Weekly Demo ..15.11.2013
The protest started with a prayer at the Abu Lamoun Oak grove, which was attended by many locals and guests. The protesters then went on to march toward the hole in the wall. A 100 meters from the wall protesters gathered for speeches featuring Jibril Rajoub, who was lightly sprayed with gas as he was speaking. Then, as protesters cautiously and peacefully advanced toward the soldiers, with the shabab heeding the organizers' request not to go a-stoning, the soldiers started filling the air with gas. Protesters were forced to retreat, a TV car was hit and started catching fire (which, luckily, was quickly put out), and the shabab started fighting back. Some protesters proceeded to paint graffiti on the wall, chased by soldiers. The ambulance was kept busy, but as far as I know all injuries were treated on site. The soldiers continued advancing, shooting gas and bullets for a long time.
MA’SARAH
The march came in the 9th anniversary assassination the leader Yasser Arafat.
It came against the negotiation and condemned the killing of young people at Israeli check points in the west bank.
It is organized by the popular resistance against the apartheid wall. After the Friday prayer the nonviolent march started from Al-Shomou’ center at Ma’sara village with the participation for dozens of locals and international solidarity, at that time, the protesters have raised the Palestinian flags, the prisoners posters then called for their freedom and ending the Israeli occupation.
As soon as the march has reached Al- Ma’sara’s entrance towards the confiscated lands
where internationals and locals protesters who have surprised the Israeli occupation forces by organizing a football game while they were deeply spread out with their vehicles, and declared it a military closed zone.
At that time, the Israeli army arrested a French activist they were attacked by plastic shields.
In that case, Mahmoud Zawahrah coordinator of the popular resistance against the apartheid wall & settlements condemned Palestinian youngsters killing on the Israeli checkpoints, affirmed that the resistance will go on until the Israeli Zionist occupation will vanish and finally requested the international community to move and end the Israeli occupation.
The weekly 08/11/2013 Friday demonstration against Israeli occupation and land theft commemorated former PLO leader Yasser Arafat, whose remained were exhumed and analyzed. Autopsy results published this week indicated chairman Arafat died of unnatural causes, presumably polonium poisoning. Villagers held photos of the former chairman to protest his assassination. The villagers were joined by Israeli and international solidarity activists. As demonstrators proceeded down a street towards the locked gate near the military watch tower, IOF soldiers dispersed the march with tear gas canisters and rubber-coated steel bullets.
15-11-13 The weekly demonstration in the village of Nabi Saleh commemorated Rushdi Tamimi, a local young man, and father of a toddler, who, a year ago was shot by Israeli soldiers during a protest against the war on Gaza. Tamimi died from his injuries two days later and was buried in the village's cemetery, where today's march started. Villagers, including Rushdi Tamimi's family members, marched from the cemetery to the site of the shooting, carrying banners with his image and the Palestinian flag, in defiance of the Israeli soldiers who attempted to suppress the demonstration. IOF soldiers fired tear gas canisters and rubber coated steel bullets at the villagers and Israeli and international solidarity activists who joined the demonstration.
South Hebron Hills
This week we will accompany Palestinians farmers and
shepherds to their lands in several locations in South
Hebron hills.
Harassment of Palestinian farmers and shepherds in the area
by both settlers and the army continues.
Tel-Aviv-Jaffa
Saturday 16-11-13 At noon Jaffa Palestinian activists with Tel Aviv activists - we held a vigil at the clock tower of Jaffa protesting the Praver transfer plan for the 30,000 Bedouins.
"In anticipation of the nationwide "day of rage" on 30.11.2013, Yaffa-based activists, both Palestinians and Jewish, protested at the historical clock tower square against the Prawer plan which threatens to displace at least 30,000 Bedouins from their home in "unrecognized villages" in the Naqab / Negev, in southern Palestine. Even before the plan has been brought to a vote at the Knesset, the Israeli government already decided to demolish Umm al-Hiran and 'Atir, two Bedouin villages, in order to build a Jewish-only settlement, Hiran."
Saturday evening 3 dozen social struggle activists - including half a dozen of the anarcho-communist Ahdut (Unity) and half a dozen other anarchists, converged in front of the home of the law minister in protest of the police violence and failure of the police internal affair investigation to indite violent police officers. After a long while we marched in the neighborhood.
Burqa
Since more than a decade the village of Burqa near Ramallah is isolated from the city which used to be so close. The road that connected the village to the city, on which it is depended economically, as well as for medical services etc., was blocked by an arbitrary decision of the military and since then it is blocked.
The people of Burqa are subjects to daily settler violence that menaces their everyday life and had peaked in burning of the mosque in the village along with few cars last year and another incident of three cars that were burned and hostile graphite that was sprayed on the rebuilt mosque’s front wall.
1000 dunam of Burqa privately held lands were stolen by the outposts of Givat Assaf and Migron. The outskirts of Burqa that are controlled by lawless armed settlers had become a dangerous zone for the villagers, which forced the village shepherds to abandon the life they knew and source of income. And the military actively oversees all this and shelters the settlers’ actions.
Burqa stands defenseless and has no one to hear its cry.
Burqa people retained themselves for such a long time. They kept hope that their peaceful approach will be seen by the ruler that will, if will not redress the injustices, at least will stop them from getting worse.
Tomorrow (18-11-13) at 3pm there will be a meeting at Burqa on this issue with representatives from the nearing villages of Dir Dibwan, Ein Yabrud and Bitin. They invited us (AAtW) to come and join their meeting.
Palestine-Israel, The joint struggle continue in spite of the low ebb after the Arabic spring lost its steam.
The Arabic spring seemed to accelerate the turning of the wheels of history immensely... but the momentum lost gradually and as much as the hope had risen so is the following passivity after the excitement dissipated. In the joint struggle of the anarchists against the wall and the popular comities we had our own surge when the joint struggle had it excitement of novelty and some victories, but it lost its momentum when the higher comity of the popular comities sailed to expand the popular struggle. When the excitement and surge ebb we can still find the company of comrades and lean together our shoulders on the wheels of history who turn to slow on their axes... and continue persistently the struggle (Tsumud). Bil'in, Ni'ilin, Nabi Saleh, Qaddum, Ma'asara, Sheikh Jarrah, South of Hebron Hills and more keep the flame of the joint struggle.
Bil'in
Today's demonstration was attended by dozens of Palestinians, two dozen International activists and 6 Israelis with the anarchists against the wall initiative, who also stood in solidarity against the attacks in Gaza last night as well as the illegal wall and occupation.
Three were injured in the non armed Bil’in’s weekly demonstration. Two people were shot with rubber coated bullets and a third person was seriously injured in the leg by a live bullet.
The demonstration enjoyed a relatively large international presence, and the shabab agreed to put their stones down, and let the guests see what happens when they do not fight back. The marchers reached the gate and gathered there chanting. The wind was blowing toward the soldiers, so they couldn't use gas. Instead, they took about one minute to start shooting bullets at the peaceful demonstrators. One demonstrator was hit in his pants pocket. The shabab then started to fight back with stones, and soon enough, one of them was hit in his leg with a live 0.22 bullet, which the army itself prohibits from use in demonstrations because of its lethal history. The demonstrators retreated, and later regrouped along the southern wall, to be followed by an army invasion and a chase to the outskirts of the built area of the village. The injured demonstrator was released from hospital later that day.
Palestine-Israel, The joint struggle continue and so does the creeping transfer*
On one side we have the mounting international pressure on Israel to yield a bit. On another side we have the increase of fear of the Israeli elite from the mounting pressure and the threats to increase it much more in the near future. In spite of that or as a desperate response the efforts to speed the creeping transfer by the Israeli regular forces and the irregular settlers increase immensely. The Israeli Bedouins face the prelude of the Farwer plan to transfer half of the villagers to concentration towns. Palestinians of the Jordan valley and of south of Hebron are harassed and pushed slowly out. The demolitions and confiscations of houses in occupied east Jerusalem continue. And the joint struggle persist both in Bil'in, Ni'ilin, Nabi Saleh, Qadum, Ma'asara, Sheikh Jarah, and South of Hebron Hills - and will never stop.
Bil'in
Friday weekly demonstration. Dozen Israelis, nearly two Dozens internationals and dozens Bil'iners converged at noon in the Abu Lamun orchard near the separation wall. Not long after we approached the area near the gate in the wall the state forces started to shower us with barrages of tear gas canisters. As the wind was friendly to us, the state forces had to crossed the wall with armored cars in order to drive us back to the village. It took them nearly two hours to force all of us back to the village.
The photographer Mohamed Basman Yaseen (21 years old) was injured today by rubber bullet in his back, in addition to dozens of suffocation.
Ma'asara
Friday, protest today, 25 October, 2013 West Bank village marks 7 years of popular resistance
The markedly stone-free protests in al Ma’asara are nevertheless violently suppressed by the Israeli army. ”We see the soldiers here with their guns, their boots, their shields and their helmets protecting the wall – but we know the real problem is the wall that is in their minds,” protest leader says.
About 200 Palestinian, Israeli and international activists attended this week’s Friday demonstration against the wall and settlements in the village of al-Ma’asara, south of Bethlehem. The larger-than-usual crowd gathered at noon in the village center to commemorate seven years of popular struggle in the village – seven years of weekly marches toward the land where the separation barrier is planned to run.
The larger and more festive procession this week took the usual route from the village center to the land using the village’s main road, only to find it blocked by soldiers at the entrance to the village – as the army does every week. Activists tried to break through the row of soldiers with their hands in the air and after failing to pass sat down on the ground in front of the soldiers.
A border police officer stated he was declaring the village a “closed military zone,” giving demonstrators five minutes to leave the area. “You are standing on occupied land in a liberated Palestinian village – so it is you that have five minutes to leave,” answered Hassan Brijieh of the popular committee in the village.
After about an hour and a half the demonstration ended and while activists were returning to the village, soldiers followed them in. At one point a couple of kids from the village threw stones at the invading jeeps and were answered with a few tear gas grenades fired on the main road. The whole incident ended shortly and back at the village center popular committee members stated they would continue with their struggle.
The government representatives and the police force continued and demolished El-Arkib again.
They also uprooted tens of olive trees in Darijat (northwest of Kseyfa).
Palestine-Israel, The low tide of the joint struggle continue on the background of the general disillusion
The high tide of the social struggle in the world at large and in our region just two years ago with lot of hopes gave way to disillusions. The joint direct action in Bil'in, Ni'ilin, Nabi Saleh, Qaddum, Ma'asara, Beit Ummar, Shaikh Jarrah diminished in size. Contributing to it the stick and carrot policy of the Israeli occupation system. The significant increase of work permits to Palestinians within Israel and lax policy towards the "illegal Palestinians" who work in it, contributed its share. The strict policy of the corrupt Palestinian authority do not promote hope and militancy in the grass root nor among the Israeli radical people. The hope in approaching radical change due to international pressure on Israel and the low tide in both the general social struggle and the Palestinian arena diminished the numbers an energy of activists involved with the Israeli anarchists against wall initiative. Just a glimpse of hope bring the emerging of the Israeli anarchist communist Ahdut (unity) group I joined lately
Nabi Saleh Solidarity
Activists report that today's demonstration took place in the rain. Despite the wet weather, residents of Nabi Saleh including men, women and children, along with Israeli and International supporters attempted to march to the spring which has been illegally annexed by Israeli settlers. During the demonstration, demonstrators also managed to open the large yellow iron gate that the Israeli military has installed in 2000 at one of the entrances of the village. For the first time in 13 years cars were able to pass via this entrance in and out of the village. As usual the IOF actively sought to repress the demonstration and at least one person has been detain/arrested - Helmy, a Palestinian photographer/cameraman from the village.
Qaddum
The Friday demonstration was smaller than usual because of Holiday, olive harvest, rain, and a funeral in the village.
The road to the village was closed hermetically by the Israeli state forces. The army tried to block even the round about dirt road. But, all wisecracks of the IOF could not prevent those who fight the oppression from manifesting it. With the help of our Palestinian partners we arrived - a large group of international and a handful of Israelis in spite the, jeeps and other means of oppressed.
At the begin the occupation army was hiding. Shortly after the demo began to march lot of them equipped from head to toe, came from every direction behind the houses and from the hills and shot barrage of tear gas grenades.
Gray was yesterday in Qaddum, both the rain clouds, the tear gas, the smoke burning tires igniting by the shabab. These painted the village gray but not in any way decreased the determination if the village people to continue the struggle and fight for righteousness, against the oppression, expropriation of their lands, and the breach of the fundamental right of travel.
The demonstration ended without injuries or detainees.
Don’t say we didn’t know #385
On Saturday, 12th October, 2013, Palestinians from Qaryut (near the settlements Shilo and Eli) went to harvest their olives. At a certain point, settlers arrived nearby. They summoned the IDF, who arrived and declared the area a closed military zone, and then forced the harvesters to leave their land.
The next day, the same farmers went to harvest their olives, this time supported by international volunteers. Again, settlers came and summoned soldiers, who again distanced the harvesters from their lands. When the farmers went to a nearby plot – declared the previous day as being alright for harvest by the soldiers – they, the Palestinian harvesters, were removed by the soldiers from that plot, too, following the settlers’ demands.
On 19th October, 2013, at 3:00 a.m., settlers invaded the olive groves of Qaryut, and badly damaged some 70 olive trees.
Palestine-Israel, The joint grass root social struggle continue in the cracks of the ruling elites*.
The tension in the air is high - waiting to see if the increased international pressure on Israel will yield some results. The contribution of Israel to the imperial powers is shrinking due to the compromises in Syria and Iran, and due to the diminishing dependency of US on the Mediterranean oil. The expected retreat of Israel from at least parts of the west bank increase the efforts of both the settlers and the state force to hasten the creeping transfer of the Palestinian peasants and shepherds from the Jordan valley and the Hebron hills. Israeli activists join (mainly on weekends) the Palestinian farmers to deter part of the harassments of settlers supported by state forces. The joint struggle in the usual locations the anarchists against the wall participate in continue. Bil'in**, Ni'ilin, Nabi Saleh, Qaddum, and even Sheikh Jarakh also draw lot of internationals.
Reluctantly the Palestinian elite find itself involved with the popular struggle of Bil'in mainly. Coming from time to time to collect coupons - like in the yearly conference.
Bil'in
"In the wake of the recent massive wave of arrests of Palestinian activists, it is vital that we continue to resist against the Israeli occupation. Last 20th February had marked the eighth anniversary of the weekly non-violent protests against the construction of the Apartheid Wall in the West Bank village of Bil’in.
Bil’in has become a symbol of the power of non-violent grassroots movements in building local and international resistance to Occupation. After six years of continuous resistance, Bil’in succeeded in regaining a part of its seized land. But the struggle is not over as long as Palestinians have not recovered all their legitimate rights.
The Popular Struggle Coordination Committee and the Bil'in Popular Committee against the Wall and Settlements kindly invite you to the 8th International Conference on the Palestinian Popular Struggle from Wednesday 2nd to Friday 4th October 2013"
We participated as welcomed guests.
Ten Israelis with the anarchists against the wall about 20 international and less than the usual villagers as the olive picking season started participated in the demo this Friday. When we reached the gate in the wall it was partly opened but the state forces stayed behind the wall and were holding fire. After a while they threw few tear gas grenades signaling to the shabab to start their stone throwing. For nearly half an hour the soldiers shoot tear gas only on the shabab and only at the end when we were starting to return to the village they flooded the area with tear gas and crossed the wall with armored jeeps in a long pursuit after the shabab.
Nabi Saleh
Activists report that the Children of Nabi Saleh were on the hills around the village and the Israeli Occupation forces opened fire with rubber coated steel bullets and teargas. Several IOF jeeps have also entered the village and the IOF have surrounded at least one home and are firing sound/shock grenades and rubber coated steel bullets at the people outside.
Monday 14.10
Ni'lin activists report that the village was recently invaded by a large Israeli army unit that kidnapped Mohammed Hatem Ben age 21 from his home. Last weekend, in a similar invasion the army kidnapped his cousin Mohammed Hazem, age 18. Hazm is a student at the university and his detention will probably make him lost a year. Last few months alone 35 people kidnapped from Ni'lin, which neither of them was released so far. They got (by military court) prison sentences ranging from eight to 30 months. Most of them on charges of participating in demonstrations against the separation wall which robbed about 30% of the remaining land of the village.
Since 2008 the village of Ni'lin subjected to violent repression of demonstrations and arrests. Four protesters were murdered with live ammunition shot at them: Aqil Srour (36), Arafat Khawaja (22), Mohammad Khawaja (20), and Ahmad Moussa, aged 10. Another protester, Yusef Amira (17) was killed by rubber bullet. American solidarity activist, Tristan Anderson was critically wounded by tear gas canister launcher.
Qaddum
"I do not know what was the rain the weatherman meant in his forecast..., but heavy rain of tear gas was shot on the last Friday demonstration.
Due to the olive harvest season yesterday demonstration was attended by fewer people than usual, but only slightly. They will not let even the olive Harvest to weaken their persistent struggle.
Dozens of soldiers outflanked the village from all sides and continued with familiar strategy of confusing the enemy. But not the Qaddum shabab would be trapped. They were divided into three groups and were ready for any scenario.
The amount of tear gas shot yesterday was just scandalous. Bulldozer moved aside the barricades the shabab prepared beforehand, in order to enable the occupation army easy access to the village. (Needless to say that the focus of the struggle is the blocked access to the county town of Nablus in despite the High Court ruling.) And indeed the Israeli state forces entered the village. Huge amount of tear gas was shot into the houses and yards from every direction. Few people were suffocated but the demonstration ended without injuries and without arrests of participants thanks to the skill and alacrity of the shabab who succeeded to evade the soldiers despite their intention to make arrests.
A victory parade? For surely it was."
Friday 11.10
Strange and confusing demonstration was last Friday.
The army set up a manned checkpoint and closed the entrance to the village. Crew of the Palestinian television were detained at the checkpoint
where. They were told that they are forbidden from entering the village until March.
They tried to detain us too but one of us had a vivid imagination and resourcefulness said we had lost our way and are looking for the road to Karbey Shomron settlement. Though skeptical they let us go.
In the village it was a quiet alert. On the route of the road the soldiers of the occupation army were absent - only four soldiers
were located on the hill on the left. It was tense and we were watching for surprises. After a while, a bulldozer descended to clear the
barricades set by the shabab each week. The soldiers got off the mountain and went behind one of the houses, shot tear gas and stun grenades and the shabab confront them as usual. It was still confusing but the protesters succeeded to shield the shabab. When the soldiers retreated the demo ended tradition triumph march.
Sheikh Jarrah 11.10
The residents of Sheikh Jarrah are continuing their protest vigils in the neighborhood every Friday, protesting their violent evictions from their homes,
the taking over of the neighborhood by the settlers, and the Judaization of East Jerusalem.
They call upon each and every person who supports their struggle to join them.
Southern West bank
Joint activities to resist the crawling transfer efforts of the area C villagers:
This week we will accompany Palestinians farmers and shepherds to their lands in several locations in South Hebron hills to frustrate harassment of Palestinian farmers and shepherds in the area by both settlers and the army continues.
Watch the video from last Saturday's activity http://www.taayush.org/?p=3479
This coming Saturday, as usual, we need as many activists as possible to accompany them and stand up for their rights. There is a direct link between the number of activists who come to accompany the farmers and their ability to harvest and work their lands.
Please bring an ID/passport, hat and water and don’t forget to dress modestly (no shorts or sleeveless shirts).
** I missed the previous weekly demo in Bil'in and the weekly report due to activities of "Ahdut" (Unity) - the emerging first Anarchist Communist organization of Israel (Palestine) I just joined. (It was a kind of small affinity group in the Russian immigrant community till about few months ago but lately expand to nearly two dozens - joined by members from the general anarchist scene.
Palestine-Israel, The European B.D.S. on the settlement in the air, just the joint struggle continue as usual*
The Chinese curse "have an interesting days" materialize lately in our region. The surprising deescalation of the Syrian chemical weapons and the Iranian atomic program left Israel exposed to escalation pressures from Europe. In spite of the relative economic boom the Israeli people and more so the downgraded "middle class" victim of the intensive application of neo-liberalism start to express resentment. The media vibrate with subjects related to the emigration of the middle class people their nationalism is gradually eroded by both the neo-liberalism and the fear of the price of the continuous occupation. This is not just a background to the joint struggle but also responsible burn out of activists. Though not at their pick the weekly joint demonstrations and the involvement with Palestinian resistance to the crawling transfer continue.
Palestine-Israel, The joint struggle sabotage the Israeli efforts of crawling transfer*.
The transfer of the Palestinians from the 1948 borders never completed. So, it continued on a milder crawling mode up to the present. One aspect was general oppression and harassment that resulted in the emigration of many of the Christian Palestinians of the north of the country. Another was the gradual transfer of the Bedouins of the south with joint struggle around the Arakib village and the Farber decree. Within the 1967 borders the transfer efforts are in the Jordan valley and the shepherd communities in the south with Susia as focus. More on the news were joint struggles along the separation fence - Bil'in, Ni'ilin, etc., and other places settler outposts and neighboring encroached on villages land like Beit Ommar, Nabi Saleh and Qaddum. Lately in the news: "In one tape, Mubarak is heard claiming that some six months before his ouster, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke with him about a plan he was considering, to displace the Gaza Strip's population into the Sinai Peninsula."
"Popular Struggle Coordination comity Weekly Protests, Friday 20th September organized weekly nonviolent demonstrations in several Palestinian villages to protest against the Israeli occupation to revive Sabarah & Shatila 31st anniversary in Lebanon,to condemn the frequent settler raids at Al-Aqsa Mosque and in support of the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails."
Villagers, international solidarity, and Israelis activist with the anarchist against the wall participated in the Weekly non-armed demonstration. During the weekly demonstration today the Israeli army used an excessive use of teargas and rubber bullets on the protestors. Palestinian, international and Israeli activists, gathered in front of the gate. One international got injured on the foot by a teargas cannister when teargas was fired directly at them. While she was being treated they also shot teargas at it. While doing their work, two journalists were injured, one of them sitting in his wheelchair not able to move when the teargas was aimed in his direction. The soldiers entered the field and continued firing teargas and rubber bullets. Three kids got injured from the cannisters and rubber bullets.
Ma'asara
M, a resident of the village Ma'sara, found himself under attack by the Border Police, only because he is a resident of a village that opposes the occupation with weekly Fridays joint demonstrations.
One morning in early August, M returned from a medical treatment in Ramallah to his village on a Palestinian taxi. When the taxi travelers were checked at the Container checkpoint by a border police officer.
The officer demanded to be given the identity cards of the travelers. He paused on the identity card of M, and then ordered him to get out of the car. Immediately after M. got out, the officer slapped him without provocation. He tried to hit him again, and M. blocked the blow. Then another policeman came and both dragged M. According to his testimony, they beat him again and again. While the taxi driver tried to intervene they made it clear to him that he should return to the vehicle, or that he'll get it too.
The reason? No one told M. anything, but the thugs who attacked him used several times the word "Ma'sara." Ma'sara is one of the villages participating in the Popular Resistance and preparing the weekly peaceful demonstration that the border police officers are "forced" to disperse. This bothers them and prevent them from going home for the weekend. M. said he is sure this is the only reason they picked him for the biting.
"Friday, the Israeli occupation forces suppressing Al-Ma’srah weekly protest organized by the popular resistance against the wall and the apartheid wall.
Today’s march was condemning first the killing of Islam Toubassi by the Israeli special forces in Jinin, secondly, in solidarity with Al-Aqsa mosque, and reviving the 31st anniversary of Sabra and Shatila massacre.
Before the march has reached the entrance of the village the Israeli occupation forces entered deeply to the village with their vehicles - declaring it as military closed zone. Then they attacked the protesters with the plastic shields while they tried to access their lands.
The popular resistance coordinator against the wall and settlement Mahmoud Zawahreh stated in English and and Arabic that the popular resistance will go on and condemned the raid of a dozens of settlers at Solomon’s Pools to the south of Bethlehem. He talked also about the suffering of the Palestinian people from the Israeli occupation, the apartheid wall and the settlement policies. He criticized specially the non respectful treatment of the holy places.
Nabi Saleh
Today’s march was condemning and reviving violations.
Demonstrates have attempted to reach the spring today as part of the Friday demonstration. The children almost made it to the spring but were blocked by Israeli Occupation Forces. Activists report that the IOF have opened fire with teargas and the sparks/fire from the teargas canisters has set fire to sections of the Nabi Saleh valley.
As soon as the march reached to their confiscated lands then the Israeli occupation started to shoot rubber coated bullets and tear gas grenades (which caused many suffocation cases). Thus, The popular resistance movement has called for an Intifada refusing to abide the Israeli occupation brutal massacres and their daily violations until getting all legal rights and the freedom.
Qaddum
Hundreds of villagers, internationals, and Israeli activists participated in the Friday march where they chanted national slogans calling for justice from the perpetrators of Sabra and Shatila massacre in 31st anniversary.
A popular committee’s media coordinator in Kafr Qaddum Murad Eshteiwi stated that the Israeli soldiers with borders police directly suppressed and targeted peace activists Zahi Ali and Abdul Razzaq Amer by firing them directly with tear gas grenades.
Among the injured ones known (Raed Nasser 15) years by a tear gas canister in the shoulder and (Mu’awiah Mahmoud Shtiwi 17 years) by a tear gas canister in his side and a one of the Israeli solidarity (Shaul 30 years) in the shoulder along with the Palestine TV crew. (The Israeli occupation forces have targeted journalist’s crews from various satellite T.V channels. As result, they wounded a Chinese news agency reporter (Sam) by a tear gas bombs in the knee, also a photo journalist (Ayman Idriss) by a tear gas canister in the chest. They also damaged the equipment of theirs as well as that of a B'Tselem Israeli volunteer.
Another take:
"About 300 Palestinians and four Israelis participated with a handful of internationals in this Friday protest.
Opposite us were posited the occupation army and its thugs. Jeeps and other heavy equipment and dozens of soldiers frantic and bloodthirsty. Even before the protest began they started shooting gas everywhere. They formed a front on the route of the road and on the hills on the left - hordes with olive color uniforms. When the demonstration began tractor entered into the village to remove the barricades set by the diligent shabab in advance. The tractor came accompanied by jeeps and belligerent soldiers. They shot continuously and indiscriminate plenty of tear gas. "Direct shooting" is understatement to what really happened there today. They shot in order to hit and hurt people like snipers. This resulted in many demonstrators slightly injured.
Six Palestinians injured in different parts of the body from tear gas grenades and canisters. Ankle, abdomen, back, hip and shoulder were hit. Also injured the knee of a Chinese journalist and Israeli journalist was wounded in the hand. All received treatment in the village.
All these atrocities could not even for a second harm the morale and the determination of Qaddum residents to FIGHT BACK.
The bastards also shot an Israeli activist with a tear gas grenade launcher, at a direct angle and close range! They were aiming straight at the ppl in the narrow street, as you can see in the video. This is akin to an attempted murder against ppl who pose no threat to the soldiers!"
Susia
The village is the target of intense transfer efforts for many years. Joint actions were there aplenty.
Lately a local left leaning Israeli singer was scheduled to give a saw in the rear by settlement and was target of pressures by the Israeli activists of the B.D.S... He vacillated and announced the canceling of the show but counter pressures caused him to renegate. A joint demo was done near the location of the show:
Don't say we didn’t know #380
The Israeli government continues its campaign against its Bedouin citizen residents of the Negev.
On Tuesday, 17th September, 2013, government representatives accompanied by police arrived in Bedouin localities in the Negev and started to demolish homes; in Al-Fur'a, south of Arad, they demolished a home of a couple about to be married. In El-Za'arura, near Kseifeh, they also demolished a home of a couple about to be married. They again demolished the village of 'Atir, near Hura, and confiscated a tractor and a water tank there. Then they continued and demolished El'Araqib, yet again.
