Palestine-Israel, After 13 years of joint struggle (and 12 in Bil'in), we won the right for the unarmed demonstrations against the separation fence, settlers, and occupation*

At the beginning, up to 450 Israelis of the radical left joined the hundreds of Palestinians of Bil'in and the region in the struggle against the robbery of the village land for the Modi'in Elit settlement and the separation fence used for that. It took more than 7 years till the state forces stopped to try to prevent activist from joining the Bil'iners in the Friday joint demonstrations. It took another 5 years till they stop to shoot on us tear gas and "non lethal" bullets. Two Bil'iners paid with their life, hundreds of Palestinians and Israelis were injured, detained and even arrested (Palestinians for long time up to a year and a half, Israelis no more than a day or two). Many thousands of international activists participated with us and contributed later for the international struggle against the occupation. The harassment of the village activists at nights mainly continue, but the struggle will not stop.

Bil'in, Friday 7-10-16, 5 Israelis, 10 internationals, and about dozen village activists converged for the Friday demo against the Israeli occupation and settlers. Unlike the few previous demos the Israeli armed cars were posited at the route of the dismantled separation fence were they used to block our way to the new separation wall most of the last year... but just as we started to march the went away - "invited" us to march along the newly upgraded road to the new separation wall near the Abu Lamun oak orchard - as we did in the few previous demos. However, they put at the old route a line and warning not to cross it, declaring the place as military fire training area and harassed the few comrades who went that way.
However, not accepting their "request" the main demo took another road straight to the gate in the wall. For a while, when the state force harassed the comrades who did go on the road leading to the oak orchard we converged not far from the gate waiting for the armed cars to go away. When they did it, we marched to the gate and then along the wall to the oak orchard - confronting on the way settler youngsters on the other side of the wall. After a while the state forces returned but instead of confronting us just confiscated a car of a village activist.
After a long rest we returned to the village.

14-10-16 The Bil'in Freedom demonstration went ahead smoothly today and we made it to The Israeli apartheid wall ! We were about 30 people with International activists from around the world: Israel, Canada, Holland! Some were from the ISM (International Solidarity Movement).
Our demonstration is held on our village "Freedom Street" street and peacefully protests against the Illegal Israeli apartheid and military occupation of West Bank and our farming village! HELLO! There were NO arrests today! We arrived at the wall and the gate of the wall, demonstrators climbed the wall to hoist up our national Palestinian flag and the gates opened and the Israeli Occupation forces came out! The soldiers did threaten the International activists with immediate arrest if they did not leave the area and actually took photocopies of their passports! The soldiers looked for cars to steal ...but there weren't any to Arrest! It was a good day! I am hosting some activists in my home now and I am proud of their courage and I thank them for blessing our village with their visit! Palestinians are loving welcoming people and we always welcome you ALL to visit and WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT! You will always find love from us, its all we have but we give it freely and generously! Thank you International activists!

21-10-16 Bil'in, Friday 21-10-16 demo. 4 Israelis, and about 15 internationals joined a delegation from Ramallah and the village activists. We converged at the Abu Lamun wood. Before starting the demo the participants continued to clear the wood from the various remnants of more than 5 years of confrontations.
Than we marched to the wall and along it up to the gate in the wall. There we knocked on the gate for long time but no response came.
After social time in the area near the gate we returned to the village.

Bil'in, 28-10-16, Friday demo against occupation and settlers, and in memory of Renen Raz - activist of the anarchist against the wall, who died this week after a long illness (his activity was participation in the Friday demo in Bil'in). In the demo participated 10 Israelis with the AAtW initiative, dozens of international activist from various countries and the village activists. We converged at the Abu Lamun oak wood and started marching and chanting - with many holding Renen picture, towards the gate in the wall. After we arrived youth climbed the wall to hung an additional Palestinian flag. When we arrived there people converged in front of the gate taking pictures and knocking on the gate... After a long time few Israeli soldiers showed themselves behind the wall and threw few sound grenades.... and then we returned to the village.

4-11-16Friday demo. 5 Israelis with the anarchist against the wall initiative Joined dozens of international activists and the village activists. After converging at the Abu Lamun oak mini park we marched towards the gate in the separation wall - chanting all the way. When we arrived there the gate was opened a bit and we could see few soldiers positioned just behind the gate. After few minutes of converging near the gate the soldiers came forward - declaring the area as closed military zone and demand us to return to the village. As we just ignored them they started to threat us with arrests and even detained two activists. "2 activist - one of the Israeli anarchists against wall and one village activist (brother of the two martyrs) detained today on the weekly Bil'in"
After a long while with more threats of arrests and partial retreat the army commander promised to release the detainees when we will be distant from the gate... After the demo end was declared we slowly started to return to the village.
When we returned to the village the two detainees were released after signing a promise not to commit the same felony again.

4-11-16 Friday demo. Awful smell, even poisoning our air... Zionist occupation soldiers spraying wastewater (skunk water) at Palestinian people and houses of Kufr Qaddom village. The filthy smell lasts more than a week and requires really hard work to clean it. This way of collective punishment is very common and used everywhere in occupied Palestine.

Don't Say We Didn't Know 520

Last week the Israeli army carried out various demolitions in the West Bank.

Following is a report of one case:

On Tuesday, September 27, 2016. soldiers came to the Palestinian village of Al Hama in the northern part of the Palestinian Jordan Valley, near the settlement Mekhola, and demolished all 25 of the structures there. Since that cursed day, settlers and soldiers keep arriving there and threatening the inhabitants to cease their cooperation with Israelis who come to help them and demanding the villagers to leave. One of the villagers told the Israeli peace activists that in the past houses were demolished as well but there were no subsequent harassments as there are now.

--------------------------------------------

Don't Say We Didn't Know 521

This posting is an exception: I include a photo of third-graders of the Bedouin Abu Al-Nawar family of the Jahalin tribe who live in E1 zone, between Jerusalem and the Maale Adumim settlement. After a previous demolition of their school, they erected a tent that served as a classroom. On Tuesday, October 4, 2016, Israeli soldiers arrived and destroyed the tent.

Don't Say We Didn't Know 523

On October 10, 2016, Israeli human rights activists discovered that settlers from the unauthorized outpost of Giv'at Sal'it (belonging to the settlement Mekhola in the Palestinian Jordan Valley) have begun to build yet another, new outpost about 300 meters from the Palestinian village of Al Hama which the Israeli army has demolished, claiming the village is built illegally (see "Don't Say We Didn't Know" no. 520). All appeals to the army and the police have been of no avail. The settlers continue building the new outpost which will eventually become a new settlement. This is what history teaches us...

Don't Say We Didn't Know 524

The Israeli army persists in its transfer schemes.
Having demolished most of this Palestinian village's houses on October 9, 2016, Israeli soldiers came to Ras Al Ahmar (in the Palestinian northern Jordan Valley) two and a half weeks later and issued all the villagers a temporary evacuation order. They are required to leave their village on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 4 p.m. and will be permitted to return the next day at 10 a.m.
The villagers of Homsa, a Palestinian village near the settlement of Beqa'ot also received a temporary evacuation order for Tuesday and Wednesday, October 31st and November 1st.
The reason for these orders: the Israeli army intends to hold manoeuvres in the area.

----------------------------------------------

Don't say we did not know #525

The Israeli army continues to bully the Palestinians, inhabitants of Ras Al Ahmar in the Palestinian Jordan valley.

On Monday, October 31, 2016, Israeli soldiers confiscated 5 tractors. Three weeks before that they demolished the inhabitants' homes (October 9) and evacuated them (November 1) from their village for the night for army manoeuvre purposes.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On Sunday, October 30, gov't. agents arrived, escorted by police, to the Bedouin village Bir Hadaj (near Revivim) and demolished tents, put up by residents after their homes had been demolished on October 9. They demolished three water tanks as well. Ever since, the police has increased its presence and on Tuesday, November 1 arrested four people.
On Wednesday, November 2, gov't agents, escorted by police, arrived in El 'Araqib and demolished it again. This time they confiscated cars, a cart and a water tank.
Palestine-Israel, The Tsumud/persistence of 13 years of joint struggle will continue as long as it takes*
It is not because the Jews rule US... It is because Israel play an essential part in the Imperial struggle between US and Russia. Though the oil is less important to US economy it is still important to its partners. The western empire elite came to Peres ceremony because Israel helped to return Egypt to US sphere of influence. Protected Jordan from being taken by pro Russian Syria, Pushed Syria out of Lebanon for a while... and supply important services all over the world. Thus, the struggle against Israel apartheid is going to be much harder than the abolishing of it in Southern Africa. However, we have here the joint non armed struggle, the tens of thousands international activists who come here to participate and return home with the torch of struggle. The Israeli Jews who participate every week in the joint struggle refute the "anti-Semitism" false claims.
Bil'in 26-8-16 Friday demo, another Link in the twelfth year chain. 9 Israelis, and 10 internationals joined the Bil'iners in one of the quietest demonstrations. This time like in most demos of the last year the Israeli forces waited for us near Bassem (Fil) memorial - blocking our way to the freed lands and the new separation wall. We marched from the village waving flags and chanting till we arrived there. As usually they declared the area as a forbidden closed military zone... but let us march up to were they were standing in a line without demanding us to retreat, threatening with arrests or forcing us to retreat. after a long while we started to retreat to the village.
2-9-16 This Friday was another sample of the Israeli state forces new policy. While we were converging at the west margin of the village, the state force which were with their Jeeps at their usual location near the route of the old separation fence just drove away, like two weeks ago, in a kind of invitation of us to march up to the gate in the new separation wall. This time, 8 Israelis, and about 10 internationals joined the Bil'iner in a march.... but to ours choice of location - the wall near the Abu Lamun park, southern to the gate.
As usual we chanted and held flags all the way to the wall. The frustrated Israeli forces who waited for us at the gate lost patience and came to us for the usual harassment: declaring a closed military zone, demanded us to return to the village and threatening with arrests. As we were tired from the long march in the hot whether, we did not defy them for long and returned to the village.
Bil'in - 9-9-16, The day we were afraid of have come today. from the beginning 11 years and a half ago we contemplated what we would do if the Israeli state forces will fail to come to confront us and to disperse the demo.
Today, we marched from the village to the new separation wall - 5 Israelis, 8 internationals and about 20 Bil'iners. The Israeli state forces refrain from coming to the route of the dismantled separation fence, they refrained from harassing us when we reached the wall near the Abu Lamun Oaks orchard. Nothing happened when we marched along the wall up to the gate in it... and nothing happened when we knocked on the metal gate in the wall. Nothing happened even when two kids threw stones to the other side of the wall - no one was there.
16-9-16 6 Israelis with the anarchists against the wall initiative with dozens of internationals joined the local activists in the 601st Friday demo at the second half of the twelfth year of struggle in Bil'in against the separation fence, settlers, and occupation. Like in the previous week the Israeli forces were not seen around... After Marching and chanting all the way to the wall' and along it to the closed gate, a kind of happening started there: youngsters climbed the wall and put the Palestinian flag on it. Few soldiers appeared for a short time but disappeared after stones were thrown on them. After prolonged banging on the wall, we returned to the villages - tired but most satisfied.
22-9-16 Bil'in, Another calm Friday demo. 5 Israelis with the AAtW, 6 internationals, and 20 Bil'iners participated in the weekly demo against the separation wall, the settlers, and the occupation. While we were converging to the demo the Israeli soldiers Expelled the settlers youth from the area behind the wall to prevent any confrontation... and then hide behind the wall. Part of us marched from the village and other drove to the Abu Lamun oak orchard were we marched together to the near by wall and walked along it up to the gate in the wall. There we had a kind of party - knocking on the gate and more. As the challenged soldiers failed to appear, we remained there for only half an hour before returning to the village. The state forces revenge will come as usual in nights rides on homes of activists at the following nights.
30-9-16, 9 Israelis with the AAtW initiative, 10 internationals and youth from neighbourhood village joined two dozen village activists in the Friday demo against the settlers and the occupation. After converging in the Abu Lamun oak orchard near the separation wall we marched chanting to the gate in the wall. There comrades started to knock on the gate in the wall as in the previous demos. This time, after a long while, the state forces opened the gate and started to harass the demonstrators - detaining, threatening with arrests, checking IDs... and cars - both near the gate and along the way to the village.
"At today's protest in Bil'in, Israeli occupation forces attacked the some 50 demonstrators, arresting two shabab from the nearby village of Kharbata and Bil'in villager; Abd Fatah."
After a while and lot of threats to participants for arrests in the future, the detainees and the car were released while the ID of the Israeli "stayed arrested".
Don't say we did not know 515
In February, 2016, the IDF destroyed most of the homes in the Palestinian village of Al Maksar (near the Hamra checkpoint) in the Jordan valley. At that time the army sealed all but one of the entrances to the villages.
On Thursday, August 18th, 2016, the army sealed the remaining entrance to the village. A number of herds remained outside of the village, as was a water tank that serves them.
Are more demolitions planned?
---- ---- ----
On Thursday, August 18th, 2016, government representatives accompanied by police demolished homes of Bedouin in the Negev: In Um Mashash on Route 25, the floor of a home; in Al Sadir, near Ar'ara, a structure; in Um Batin, east of Omer, a structure. They once again demolished the village of al-Alarib.
In Az-Zarnug, on Route 25, coerced by government representatives and police, people demolished their own home.
Don't say we did not know #516
In the early 1950s, the Bedouins of Umm El Kheir were expelled from the Arad region (in Israel) to the West Bank. After their expulsion they bought land in the south Hebron hill region, and established their village. In 1981 Israel founded the settlement Carmel next to their village. For some years now they have been suffering from repeated demolitions of their houses.
On Wednesday, August 24, 2016, Israeli soldiers arrived at their village yet again and demolished three houses. 26 people were made homeless.
This is the 3rd demolition in 2016 alone.
------------------------------------------------------
·
Don't say we did not know #517
Before the devastation of home demolition, demolition orders are first issued.
On Saturday, 27th August, 2016, Jerusalem municipal workers, escorted by police and soldiers, went to the Palestinian neighbourhood of Silwan (annexed to Jerusalem) and handed out demolition orders for four homes and a fence. At the village’s protest tent, they ordered renovation work being carried out on the floor to stop.
It would appear that the handing out of demolition orders takes precedence over Sabbath, and is permitted.
~~~~~~
On Monday, 29th August, 2016, government representatives, escorted by police, demolished dams -- that accumulate valley water in order to allow watermelons to be grown in the Spring - in the Bedouin village Rakhme, near Yeruham in the Negev.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Don't say we did not know #518

On Saturday evening, 10th September, 2016, a settler ran over a 5-year-old Palestinian girl, killing her, when he drove on the northern exit of the settlement Efrat, which is actually an internal road belonging to the Palestinian town Al Khadr, now in use by settlers, Efrat having expanded right up to the homes of Al Khadr.

Palestinians claim that previously that settler has threatened to kill them.

----------------------------------------------------------

Don’t Say We Didn’t Know 519

For years the Palestinians of Burin village, south of Nablus, have been suffering harassment at the hands of settlers from Yitzhar and Beracha, backed by the Israeli army. On Monday, September 5, 2016, settlers entered the edge of Burin (Area B) with a tractor from the direction of Beracha settlement, escorted by soldiers, and began to plough a 4-dunam plot of land. Villagers arriving on the spot chased them away.

On Thursday, September 15, 2016, a fire broke out in a Burin grazing area. Soldiers and settlers prevented a local fire fighter truck from approaching and quenching the fire. Children of the village confronted them. The soldiers chased the children into the village and detained two of them. The settlers set fire to olive and almond trees in a plot belonging to the village. The soldiers put out the fire.

---- ---- ----

On Monday, September 19, 2016, government agents escorted by police demolished Bedouin houses in the Negev - three houses in Za’arura, west of Fur’a. They also demolished Al Araqib yet again. Eight Bedouin demolished their own houses, under threat that the State would do so if they wouldn’t, and charge them the expenses.

Palestine-Israel, The Israeli "loses management" diminished the intensity of the weekly confrontations with the joint struggle demos*

After so many years it is hard to get used to the replacement of tear gas and bullets with threat of arrests if we cross an imaginary line. For many years we worried about the day when the Israeli state decision makers will minimise or even stop the the harsh repression of the weekly joint demonstrations against the occupation, the settlers and the separation wall. On 27-5-16 was the first demo in Bil'in the state forces did not shoot us. It took a dozen such non shootings to realize it is a real strategic shift. The last Friday they even "invited" us to return the demo to the area near the new separation wall - forbidden for us for about a year. It seems the multi millions invested in the struggle against the B.D.S. recruited a more intelligent managers who was able to force the army to swallow their pride and stop harassing the Friday demos and the international activists participating in them.

22-7 Bil'in 22-7-16 Friday demo. 6 Israelis and about dozen internationals joined about two dozen Bil'iners. The regional commander tried to show his creativity and change the routine of the relative mild confrontation of the last two weeks. He placed warnings on used cardboard instead of his armed tags - luring us to disregard them and continue to the freed areas beyond the old rote of the dismantled fence. After we disregarded the warnings and nearly reached the new separation wall we were blocked by the soldiers who manoeuvred in order to arrest activists. During our "too slow" retreat 5 were detained but the rest of us just regrouped backwards very slow.... till we decided to return to the village.https://www.facebook.com/drrateb.aburahmah/posts/10210001995429421

5-8-16 Bil'in habibti Friday demo of today - a week before my 79th birthday. 6 Israelis with the anarchists against the wall initiative, joined scores of international activists (Japan and Sweden mainly) and Bil'iners. The Israeli state forces "conquered" again the memorial square of Bassem claiming the are closed by military order.
When we arrived there they threatened participants they will arrest us if we stay there but did not.
After a long verbal confrontation mainly we returned to the village.
(We do miss the smell of the tear gas and the excitement of evading the shooting at us, - which stopped more than a month ago, and the pictures are nearly banal (: but it is better for the health of participants.)

19-8-16 Friday in Bil'in, The 600th demo against the occupation, the settlers, and the separation wall. The first demo after my 79th birthday celebration in Bil'in. 7 Israelis and a dozen of internationals joined 2 dozen Bil'iners in one of the strangest demo. While we were converging in the fringe of the village for the weekly demo, the state force who waited in their usual position near the rote of the dismantled separation fence drove away in a kind of invitation to march toward the forbidden area near the new separation wall. Afraid of a nasty surprise like in a few weeks ago we took the long round about dirt road to the gate in the separation wall. After a long long march we arrived there - where the state forces were waiting for us about 50 meters from the gate - "Allowing us to have the demo there", threatening with arrests if we cross an imaginary line.
After a long time of a low intercity confrontation with advances and retreats we started to return to the village.

Kafr Qaddum demonstrations met with tear gas
On the 15th of July in the afternoon, the people of Kafr Kaddum took part in a demonstration against the Israeli Army’s continuing theft of their road. The soldiers checked cars going in and out of the village, and stationed snipers in the bushes and on top of the hill. The Israeli Army also brought men in dark uniforms, a special unit that is used to quell prison disturbances. They had a Jeep that was loaded with tear-gas. Clearly, their main goal was to intimidate the demonstrators and stop the protest from happening.
Palestinian demonstrators march towards the road https://palsolidarity.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/DSCN5182-768x576.jpg
Palestinians, Israelis and internationals alike were in the crowd. After some chanting, the people tried to do a march but as soon as they got close to the hill where soldiers were stationed, stun grenades were thrown at them. The Israeli soldiers also fired rubber coated steel bullets at the Palestinian youth, as well as several volleys of tear-gas towards both them and the rest of the crowd. Although no one was hit by their ammunition, many people suffered from excessive tear gas inhalation.
Before leaving the Israeli Army made sure to destroy the main water pipe of the village, which will cost some 3000 NIS to repair. An overwhelming use of force was employed against a people who are simply fighting for the return of their road, which was illegally stolen from them in 2003.

Don't say we did not know #510

The Palestinian villagers of Burin suffer enormous damage, caused by settlers from the nearby settlement, Yizhar.

For example, on Friday, 1st July, 2016, settlers from Yizhar ploughed a plot of three dunums (3000 sq.m), land belonging to a farmer from Burin.

Don't say we did not know #511

On Tuesday, 12th July, 2016, Israeli security forces came to a Bedouin neighbourhood, north of the Palestinian village 'Anata (north-east of Jerusalem) - and demolished four homes. They also demolished the entire agricultural infrastructure belonging to six families.

On Wednesday, 13th July, 2016, Israeli security forces came to the Palestinian neighbourhood Jabal Mukabar, annexed to Jerusalem, and demolished three homes that were being built there, as well as an agricultural structure.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On Sunday morning, 17th July, 2016, the Jewish National Fund returned its bulldozers to a hill near El-Araqib village in the Negev, where they had previously been used for planting trees near that village.
Don't say we did not know #512
This is what land robbery looks like.
The land ownership of El-Araqib Bedouin village (Inhabitants vs. the State) is still being argued in the District Court. Nevertheless, on Sunday, 17th July, 2016, JNF bulldozers, escorted by the police, started earth-moving works on the village land. The purpose: to complete plantation of a forest of trees on that same land whose ownership is still being disputed in Court. During the week, eight El-Araqib residents were arrested, after they had conducted a protest at the invasion. All those arrested were subsequently released.
On Sunday, 24th July, 2016, the JNF bulldozers started work again on the land. Yet again, eight protesters were arrested, but later released.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

On Wednesday, 20th July, 2016, government representatives, under police escort, arrived for a day of demolitions of Bedouin homes in the Negev. At A-Zarnug, near Bir El-Hammam, they demolished a home. In Bir El-Hammam, a home owner demolished his own home. In Wadi El-Na'am, south of Beer Sheva, they demolished two homes. In Laqiyya, they demolished a building.

Don't say we did not know #513

On Thursday, 4th August, 2016, IDF soldiers demolished five homes and a sheep-pen, in the Bedouin village El Mu’arrajat, north of Jericho. Some sheep and cows escaped. Not far away, on the other side of the road, the soldiers demolished tents that were used by village shepherds.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On Wednesday, 3rd August, 2016, JNF heavy machinery entered the lands of Nuri El'Uqbi (near Eshel HaNasi). The land ownership where JNF intruded is currently in dispute in court. Some ten years ago, 12 dunums (dunum = 1000 sq.m) of the land in dispute was confiscated in order to pave Road 310.
On Thursday, 5th August, 2016, government representatives under police escort, came to the Bedouin village Hashem Zane (near Segev Shalom) and demolished the home of a mother and her ten children.
--------------------------------------------
Don't say we did not know #514
Last week, there were many homes demolished all over the West Bank.
I have chosen, instead, to highlight the uprooting of olive trees. The case is one of land proclaimed by the IDF as "survey land." This represents an attempt to steal land from Palestinians by cancelling the Palestinian ownership and handing it over to the state, i.e. Jewish ownership. On Tuesday, 9th August, 2016, IDF soldiers arrived and uprooted some 250 olive trees belonging to villagers of Iskaka, east of the settlement Ariel.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

On Monday, 8th August, 2016, government representatives under police escort arrived and demolished a home in Kseife, a Bedouin town in the Negev. Then, due to threats from the government and the police, a Bedouin family demolished two homes belonging to it, in Umm Namila (north of Rahat).

Palestine-Israel, The joint struggle is still kicking even if on lower level

The joint non armed struggle of the Israeli anarchists against the wall with local activists which confronted the Israeli state forces was unique at the beginning and drew to it less radical Israelis. Along the years were efforts to unite the local struggles and rise the level of activity but both Palestinian and Israeli authorities thwarted it. Alternative projects in the less radical Israeli circles diminish the pool the AAtW recruit. In the Palestinian side some of the successes and softening of the Israeli suppression contributed its share for dropping out of the on going joint struggle. The radical change of suppression of the Friday demos in Bil'in - mainly not shooting us any more with bullets and tear gas grenades, and the Ramadan rose some second thoughts even in the most persistent activists. But, the Tsumud (persistent) moral was regained in the relative big demo of 8 July.

Bil'in

10-6-16 "our Bil'in weekly Friday Occupation Protest Demonstration was quiet for the 3rd week running! We were only 25 in number for Bil'in this week but we showed up! So did 50 Israeli Occupation soldiers! We delivered our message in Peace! Again, we know the occupation wants to tell us we are guests in our own land and we are their prisoners but we are not clear why they show up with 50 combat armed soldiers! There is no threat from our farming village!"

24-6-16 The 590th Friday demo. Bil'in is persisting and will never yield!!! 10 Israelis with the anarchists against the wall and half a dozen internationals joined a dozen of Bil'iners in the never breaking chain of Friday demos. In spite of the state force threatening with arrests we nearly reached the route of the dismantled separation fence and the memorial structure of Bassem (phil).
After a prolonged "communication" with the soldiers we returned to the village.

1.7 Bil'in Friday demo brought us a small victory. About 8 Israeli anarchists and few internationals joined a dozen Bil'iners in the last ramadan Friday demo. The theme of the demo was the commemoration of the second anniversary of the murder of Mohammad Abu Khdeir, the Palestinian child of occupied east Jerusalem who was kidnapped by Israeli fanatics, who tortured him, and burnt him. This was the forth demo without the state forces shooting. From demo to demo we got nearer to the soldiers. .This Friday we were "quarrelling" with them only few meters separating between us. After a long while they force us to retreat about 20 meters by threatening with arrests, got so satisfied that most of them went away leaving few to keep us from going to Bassem memorial. We regrouped a bit back to a shade of an olive tree discussing the future demonstrations and in parallel few kids attacked the remaining soldiers with stones. The soldiers preferred to go away so we took advantage of it and converged at the memorial of Bassem where the soldiers car usually park.

8-7-16 Friday 8-7-16. 6 Israelis with the anarchists against the wall initiative, and about 20 international solidarity activists from various countries joined about 20 bil'iners. As is the ritual the last month the Israeli state forces positioned near the route of the dismantled separation fence "allowed" us to come up to few meters from their position - blocking our way to the new separation wall one kilometre to the west. The soldiers declared the area as closed military zone forbidden to us... even showed the activists that demanded that the document signed by the general commanding the region.
After a long quarrel with the most daring activists they declared they are starting to arrest these too near to them and we started to retreat few meters to be on the safe side. few kids throw few stones tried to provoke the soldiers... but these were not in the mood to use it as a pretext to start shooting us.
Gradually we started to return to the village as we have seen the soldiers will not go away and will not let us have a victory group picture at the memorial of Bassem abu Rahme located near the old route as in the previous Friday.

Don't say we did not know #506

Settlers from the outposts Ahiya and Esh Kodesh never stop harassing the Palestinian farmers of Jalud, whose lands are next to those outposts.

On Sunday, 5th June, 2016, after co-ordinating with the IDF, Jalud farmers went to harvest their crops on fields between the two outposts. Settlers tried to prevent the harvest. This time, the police restrained the settlers, enabling the farmers to complete their harvest (256 dunums).

It should be noted that a settler squatted on the land of a farmer from Jalud – a trespass that was ruled illegal by the court. That settler squatting there has to vacate the land only at the beginning of next year. He won a stay in court - that same court that termed his trespass illegal – so his eviction has been postponed.

On Thursday, 9th June, 2016, government representatives escorted by the police came to demolish El-Araqib, yet again.

Don't say we did not know #507

Recently, Mekorot (the Israeli water carrier) has cut back the amount of water it supplies to Palestinian areas in the northern West Bank. Salem village (east of Nablus), as an example, receives a water supply once a week to each household. The villagers have been informed that from Thursday, 9th June, 2016, Mekorot would be cutting that amount by a further half.

In Umm Jamal, in the north Jordan Valley, there's a spring used by shepherds to water their flocks. The land belongs to the church. On Tuesday, 14th June, 2016, the IDF told the shepherds, via a note posted at the site, that they must appear before a court in Beit El settlement three days later and if they did not present themselves in court, they would be denied access to the spring.

On 14th June, 2016, IDF soldiers confiscated a tractor and a water tank from a Palestinian resident of Samara in the north Jordan Valley.

------------------

Don't say we did not know #508

We frequently hear in the media about water supply problems in the Occupied Territories. Here's yet another testimony of harassment of Palestinian farmers:

On Thursday, 23rd June, 2016, Mekorot workers (from the Israeli water company), together with representatives of the Civil Administration, came to the Palestinian village Baq'a (east of Hebron), escorted by soldiers, and destroyed both their agricultural drip irrigation system and fertiliser containers. These were in use for cultivation of an area of nearly 10 dunums of tomatoes (dunum=1000 sq.m.).

We should emphasise the following: all attempts by the villagers to negotiate a water supply with the authorities have failed.

Don't say we did not know #509

Herding communities in the West Bank’s Jordan Valley suffer from extreme water restrictions.

A Palestinian from Hadidiyya (near Roee settlement) put in place a water pipe from Tamun village to his village (8 kms) so as to solve the village’s water supply problem. The Israeli Civil Administration cut off the pipe 200 metres from the village. All attempts by Palestinians from the village to reconnect the pipe were blocked by IDF soldiers.

On Thursday, 30th June, 2016, Israeli activists tried to reconnect the pipe but were prevented by soldiers.

~~~~~
On Wednesday, 29th June, 2016, government representatives, escorted by the police, arrived in El-Araqib to demolish it, yet again. For the 100th time!
This was the second time that government representatives have demolished it during this Ramadan.
Palestine-Israel, The joint struggle continue in spite of the drop out of activists
Two consecutive Fridays without being shot at after 11 years can destabilize even long time activist like me.... For 13 years the anarchists against the wall initiative and Palestinian partners continue the struggle even when the expectation for practical gains diminished. Changes in the separation fence/wall are less likely than ever. The remaining road blocks are the ones which are not just for marginal harassments. The diminishing hardship inflicted on activists opened other personal options than struggle. However, there are still a hard core of old time activists and some new of the younger generation. The contribution of the joint struggle to gains in the international support is more obvious than ever, and even less radical joint struggles continue in parallel like Sheikh Jarakh, Taayush in the south and "militants for peace".
20-5-16 Haitham Khatib: Today's demonstration in Bil'in was as every week pacific and against the violence of occupation. Like every week, occupation shot a lot of tear gas and one female activist has been injured. She was taken to the ambulance that was near the protesters to be treated. ---- Like every week, the occupation army was here trying to scare us and discourage us, but like ever week they found brave people in front of them who will never submit or leave this beloved holy land.
For the first time in 11 years at our weekly Bil'in demonstration NO Shots, gas or Sound bombs were fired by the Israeli occupation soldiers who were waiting As normal to meet and stop our solidarity demonstration! Our villagers and activists were very worried and nervous! This has NEVER happened before! We kept expecting the soldiers to start up ...all of a sudden ....or come out at us from new hiding places firing... But they did not! The Soldiers just stood waiting! Our march did not finish at the gate, as we stopped in the middle because we were just too fearful! There were no arrests! Can you guess any reason for this change in behaviour?"
Don't say we did not know #501
"Lords of the land" tours is a common pastime of settlers and their supporters during Passover week.
On Monday, April 25, 2016, settlers escorted by soldiers came for such a tour in the Palestinian village Al-Karmel, in the South Hebron hills. They went to the pool there. The soldiers checked any Palestinian who wished to enter. The pool is in area "A", supposedly under full control of the Palestinian authority.
~~~~~

On Wednesday, May 4, 2016, government agents escorted by police came to Bedouin localities in the Negev and demolished homes. In Wadi Gawin, near Ghara, they demolished a home. In Buheira, near Kseife, two homes. The next day they continued and demolished a home in A-Zarnug, SE of Nevatim. In El Fur'a, south of Arad and in Bir El-Hammam, SE of Segev Shalom they demolished a home in each.

Don't say we did not know #502
During Wednesday night, 11th May, 2016, IDF soldiers threw tear-gas grenades into a chicken coop of egg-laying poultry. 1,600 of the 2,000 chickens died from gas inhalation.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On Sunday, May 1st, 2016, the Green Patrol confiscated a herd of 13 camels belonging to Bedouin living in Rakhme, near Yeruham. The owner had to pay a fine of NIS16,000 to retrieve them. The transport costs for returning them from the pound near Haifa cost an extra NIS12,000.
On Thursday, May 5th, 2016, the Green Patrol confiscated a herd of sheep belonging to a Bedouin in Al Fur'a (near Arad). The owner of the herd had to pay a fine of NIS12,500. They also demolished his two homes, Shig (a Bedouin gentlemen's club) and sheepfold. The same owner also had to pay NIS9,000, representing the cost of the ILA (Israel Lands Administration)’s lawyer who issued the demolition orders.
Don't say we did not know #503
International volunteers in Hebron documented three cases in which a Border Policeman taught his colleague how to shoot tear gas at Palestinian pupils on their way to school. In May (on 8th, 15th, and 19th) as in many other cases, kids threw stones at them (they missed). The IDF reaction was to shoot tear gas grenades that hurt many pupils (how could it not?), including those who did not throw stones.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

On Wednesday, 18th May, 2016, government representatives, under police escort, came to the Negev Bedouin villages 'Abde (near Ovdat) and Rakhme (near Yeruham), and demolished a home in each village or in its immediate surroundings. Not only that: they didn’t suffice with only demolition! In Rakhme they confiscated a car with a loudspeaker used by the muezzin for his call to prayer.

And yet again (one can’t keep up with the number of times), they demolished El'Araqib.

Once again (!) the IDF is exercising a manoeuvre of ethnic transfer in the north of the West Bank’s Jordan Valley.
Fifty Palestinian families from the following villages: Humsa, Ras El Ahmar and Burj El Malah received orders from the IDF to leave their villages for three days, commencing 30th May, 2016, daily from dawn to dusk. The IDF is planning military manoeuvres on their lands.

Palestine-Israel, The joint struggle persist in spite of burn-out of veteran activists.

Bil'in, Ni'ilin, Ma'asara, Nebi Saleh, Qaddum, Shikh Jarrah and the South of Hebron Hills Deir Istiya

The first years of the joint struggle against the wall had some gains that drew activists to the struggle. However, for years the continuous joint struggle have much more gains, but not on the ground for people to see with their eyes. Gradually both Palestinians and Israeli activists dropped out with not so many to replace them. Still, on the weekly demonstrations the participants - Israelis, internationals, and Palestinians are far from any thought on quitting. We see the changes in the international arena. Taste of it is brought to us by the international activists who keep coming. If the weekly demos reminded activists the activity of Sisyphus of rolling a heavy rock uphill to the summit just to have it down again, it is clear to any one who see the whole picture that the rolling of the rock uphill again and again is decimating the hill and may be we are not so far from the last rolling of the rock up the hill.

Bil'in

6-4-16 Friday demo. 9 Israelis with the anarchists against the wall and dozen international activists joined the villagers and some guests. Just as we started to march down the hill - still in the village, the Israeli state forces started to shoot us with their long range tear gas canisters. Retreating a bit and malingering to evade the tear gas we prevailed. After the end of the first encounter we started again to march and got in response much more intense barrage of tear gas we prevailed it too - till the state forces went away and we scored another victory.

After their third intrusion the state forces went away and we declared another victory.

29-4-16 Friday demo. New army commander and new regulations. 10 Israelis, and about dozen internationals joined the Bil'iners in the weekly demo. The Israeli state forces "allowed" us to exit from the village and even to cross to the foot of the hill before they started to shoot tear gas. As the northern wind was friendly some activists persist there all along the demo while others retreated and advanced in response to the state forces intrusions and retreats. After longer than usual the state forces went away and we declared another victory.

29-4-16 In the West Bank village of Ni’lin, Israeli forces this week, unlike before, did not invade the village before the start of the demonstration. The demonstrators therefore marched up to the soldiers. Surprisingly – and in contrast to years of demonstrations, Israeli forces last Friday did not target civilian homes with tear gas or use any other means of supposedly ‘less-lethal’ ‘crowd-control’ weapons. Israeli forces did shoot some tear gas, but not the amounts the villagers have become used to in the years of struggle against the illegal apartheid wall separating them from the majority of their farming land. The villagers are now hoping, that the collective punishment of the whole village, the targeting of civilians and the use of excessive force has come to an end.

Deir Istiya

In Deir Istiya, near Nablus in northern occupied West Bank, farmers continued their Friday protests started few weeks ago, against the closure of agricultural roads that are essential for them to reach their land and thus ensure their own and their families income. The protest, as during the last few weeks, started with a prayer close to the settler road that cuts the farmers off from their land and prevents their access.

In 1982 the IDF proclaimed as state land some 100 dunums (dunum = 1000 sq.m.) belonging to a Palestinian family of the village of Tafuh, west of Hebron, south of the settlement Adora. In 2000 a quarry was established there by an Israeli company, Elyakim Ben Ari.

On March 23, 2016, bulldozers of the IDF cleared some 30 dunums, belonging to the same family, to expand the quarry.

On Sunday, April 3, 2016 two shepherds from the Palestinian village Mnezel (situated in the South Hebron Hills) – near the settlement Metsudat Yehuda crossed with their herd into Israel (around Jinbeh). Green Patrol inspectors could not stand this horrible violation and confiscated the herd – 150 sheep and goats were locked up in a sheepfold near Jericho. Now the sum of NIS 17,000 is demanded of the shepherds in order to get back their herd.

On Wednesday, April 6, 2016, Israeli soldiers arrived at the Palestinian village Umm El-Kheir, in the south Hebron hills region, near the expansion of the settlement Carmel, and demolished six homes. 35 people were made homeless. The inhabitants are Bedouins, the Hadlin family, of the Jahalin tribe. They purchased the land where they live in the 1950s after being expelled from Israel.

On Wednesday, 06/04/16, government agents escorted by police, arrived and demolished a home in El-Bat, near road 31, in front of Nevatim junction. In El-Sayyed, near Hura, they demolished a wall under construction.

In November 2015, the Israeli army began to widen the road leading from Hares Junction towards the settlements of Immanuel, Yakir and Nofim. The wider road will now block passage (of five roads) to 20,000 dunams of farm lands belonging to the Palestinian villagers of Deir Istiya. On Friday, April 15, 2016, the villagers held a peaceful demonstration protesting the blockage of their access to their own lands. A settler passing by stopped his vehicle and began shouting at the demonstrators. Soldiers arriving on the spot protected him and fired tear-gas at the demonstrators. Four of them were taken to hospital and seven treated on site.

On Tuesday (April 19), government agents escorted by police demolished yet again the Negev Bedouin village of Al Arakib.

Don't say we did not know #498

For years now, inhabitants of the Palestinian village Ni'ilin have demonstrated against the separation fence, with support of Israelis and peace activists from around the world. The fence separated 2,500 dunums (dunum = 1000 sq.m.) of the village land from the village itself, leaving the land on the western side.
During the demonstration that took place on Friday, April 8, 2016, the demonstrators reached soldiers standing in the fields of the village. The demonstrators argued with the soldiers. The soldiers declared the area a closed military zone. The demonstrators retreated into the village. The soldiers began firing tear gas and rubber coated bullets. The gas grenades were fired into the village as collective punishment. For the last two months they have extended their firing range.

In the beginning of October 2015, an Israeli army force entered the village of Beit Umar, south of Bethlehem. In the turmoil caused by the army's entry, Ibrahim 'Awwad was shot in his head. Ibrahim was a father of two, with a pregnant wife. He died a few days later.
In the early morning of Monday, April 25, 2016, Israeli soldiers entered the home of Ibrahim's parents, and searched the place. A female soldier demanded Ibrahim's mother to strip, twice. The soldiers wreaked havoc in the house and took a large quantity of money and jewellery (3000 NIS and 150 Jordanian Dinars).

Palestine-Israel, New people join, some veterans left, pressures intensify... but the joint struggle continue kicking.

Last Friday (1.4) lot of anarchist flags again in Bil'in challenging the new efforts to put end to the Friday demos in the village. The long range tear gas cannisters prevent any interaction with the Israeli soldiers and stoped the demonstrators from exiting the village - like in the demonstrations in Bil'in eleven years ago before the intense efforts to put end to the demonstrations was replace with the contention of them; and like in the other locations - Ni'ilin, Nebi Saleh, and Qaddum where the efforts to put end to the demonstrations intensify. (So are with out the success the intense efforts to strangle the south of Hebron hills activities with other means.) People with keen ears can already hear the beginning of the countdown towards the end of the imperial settler colonial project in the East of the Mediterranean sea. May be the acceleration of the process is the result of the accumulation of the fiascos of Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and Libya...

Bil'in

18-3-16 577th Friday demo... 5 Israeli and about two dozens of internationals joined the villagers in the march towards the separation wall dedicated to the memory of the internationalist shahida Rachel Corrie.
Before even reaching the bottom of the hill the village is on the Israeli state forces started to shoot both the short range and the long range canisters of tear gas. As the tear gas was spread also at the fringe of the village we had to retreat much more than usual... but did not disperse till the state forces went away.

Just as we started to march down the hill at the fringe of the village, the enforced Israeli state forces started to shoot the long range tear gas grenades. Few activists succeeded to pass the tear gas barrier and most of us retreated to the fringe of the range of the of the grenades - using the friendly wind help.
The advance of the soldiers and adding the rubber bullets and big amount of short range grenades failed to disperse us.
After about half an hour, most of the state force went away and only one armed car advanced to us with last salvo of shooting that still failed to disperse us.....
The last care went away. We declared an additional victory and went to drink the after demo tea at Waji veranda.

Ni’lin

18-3-16
In Ni’lin village, also west of Ramallah, as in Bil’in, the protesters were marking the anniversary of the death Rachel Corrie.
They marched carrying posters of her and pictures of Tristan Anderson, an American peace activist who was seriously injured after a high-velocity Israeli gas bomb struck him in the forehead, on March 13 2009, causing cognitive impairment and physical disability.
The Ni’lin Popular Committee stated that the Israeli soldiers assaulted dozens of Palestinian, Israeli and international peace activists with tear gas bombs that can reach more than 1000 meters away.
"Many of those gas bombs struck homes, causing many Palestinians, including children, to suffer the effects of tear gas inhalation," he said, "This is the second week the soldiers use this type of gas bombs in the village," Mohammad Amira, member of the Popular Committee said to local reporters.
25-3-16 On Friday, soldiers fired sponge headed bullets on the vehicles parked on the outskirts of the village, just for fun. Then they fired on water tank and dis-functioned it regardless they already dispersed the demonstration. Then they threw several stun grenades toward a house locked in it a family with five small children. Every time someone came to the window they threw a stun grenade. They also fired tear gas between the houses and tried to kill children who run away from them. Of course it does not end there. Afterwards we warned the children not to pick up the orange shock grenades lying between the tear gas cartridges. The kids collect them for recycling at the end of each demonstration. The fear was that like two weeks ago the soldiers will trap stun grenades where children go. The objective is to cause injury or killing of children that collect these grenades. We saw two weeks ago a grenade a soldier wired and one of the adults rushed to kick the grenade to explode it before children will try to pick it and hurt. This week we went back and asked the children not to pick up the orange grenades.

25-3-16 Residents of the Ramallah-district village of Nabi Saleh marched on Friday to protest the occupation and the ongoing violent repression of Palestinians by the Israeli army. This time, protesters were accompanied by a large contingent of foreign solidarity activists, who came to participate in the demonstration and witness the brutality. The Israeli soldiers fired many rounds of tear gas canisters, including the new long-range variety that is undetectable while in motion, and that may cause serious injuries or worse. The soldiers also used stun grenades to disperse protesters. No major injuries reported.

Don't say we did not know #493
On Thursday, March 10, 2016, the Civil Administration official responsible for government property proclaimed 2342 dunums (i.e. 2.342 square kilometres) in the West Bank as state land. Some of this area has served settlers' businesses for years. The UN and US condemned this proclamation. We almost have not heard anything in the media about this aggressive action.

Palestine-Israel, The joint struggle continue in spite of the huge changes in the region*

On the twelfth year of joined struggle in Bil'in it lost its glamour. Many of the activists lost the excitement of the direct action confrontation which is not a new thing any more. The expansion of the joint struggle to other locations and the expanding of the non armed struggle in the west bank contributed to it too. Many of the activists just "moved on" to a less intensive ways of life. But, some old time activists can not "let go". The other day, I searched the http://archive.org/web/ for the old site of: "This appeal, the first to call on-line for a boycott against Israel, was posted in April of 2001".(http://matzpun.com)... and read again our 35 original signatories of this pre-BDS. The majority are still in the struggle. Looking back on my 65 years of struggle I regard ainfos.ca, this petition, the joint struggle in Bil'in and my stories from the year 2100 - 50 years after the revolution* as the most significant ones.

Bil'in

Today at our weekly Friday peaceful Bil'in demonstration Israeli soldiers fired on us with a new weapon! A new form of tear gas which explodes and which is very very dangerous!

Friday 4-3-16. 5 Israelis and 8 internationals joined the village activists in the weekly demo against occupation and settlers. Before we even started to march the Israeli forces shoot the first warning tear gas canisters of the new kind of nearly 800 meter of range. As we started marching, more sporadic shooting of the new device... and soon a drone was flying above and barrages of tear gas of the new and the regular canisters were shot at us. The wind was changing from time to time and we could evade the gas most of the time.
Near the end of the demo another shower of tear gas canisters was shot, we retreated, and the state forces gradually went away and so did us.

11-3-16 IOF tried to break it up - us up - with tear gas bombs and rubber bullets as normal! There is nothing normal about being fired upon by IOF soldiers even though its our daily life in occupied Palestine! We cannot accept this
You can see how empowering is the tear gas - it energize my running up the hill: https://www.facebook.com/haytham.alkhateeb/videos/10207687147749693/
Another demo in the chain of joint struggle of Israeli anarchists against the wall and the non-armed struggle activists of Bil'in (and Ni'ilin, and Nebi Saleh, and Qaddum)...
7 Israelis activists joined international ones and the Bil'iners. Just as we started to march from the village down the hill, the Israeli state forces started to shoot us with the new long range tear gas canisters. The northern wind was friendly to us but the addition of the long range canisters made the old tactic of retreat to out of the range of fire was not working.
In spite of it and the canisters which rubbed our feet, we persisted and were surprised when the state force ended the testing of the new long range canister and went away after less then 20 minutes of confrontation - the shorter demo ever.

After six years of popular uprising and six months of the extreme brutal violent Israeli repression, Palestinians in the village of Nabi Saleh confronted the Israeli army to protest the ongoing occupation, land expropriations and extra judicial killings. Protesters reported the army is now using a new, and lethal, kind of tear gas canisters, that are heavier than the previous ones, almost undetectable with a much bigger range. It is only a matter of time before these new canisters cause fatalities, they argued.

11/3-16 Israeli soldiers shot and injured, Friday, two Palestinian children in Nabi Saleh village, Northwest of Ramallah, and fired gas bombs, causing dozens to suffer the effects of tear gas inhalation after the army assaulted the weekly non-violent protest against the Annexation Wall and colonies.
Medical sources said the soldiers shot Mohammad Naji Tamimi, 9, with a gas bomb in his abdomen, before local medics provided him with the needed treatment, and moved him to a hospital. Another child was shot with a rubber-coated steel bullet in his cheek, causing a large wound; medics also moved him to a local hospital for treatment, after providing him with the urgently needed medical care.
The sources added that the soldiers fired dozens of gas bombs on the non-violent protesters, and several homes in the village, causing scores of residents to suffer the effects of tear gas inhalation.

On Wednesday evening, 24th February, 2016, some Palestinians held a memorial ceremony near the Cave of the Patriarchs or Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron, in memory of the massacre perpetrated there in 1994. They lit candles and screened a documentary film about the massacre. The military arrested three Palestinians who tried to participate in the ceremony. Two settlers threatened the participants. Then, the settler Anat Cohen arrived in her car. She shouted at the participants, and drove slowly at them, injuring some. The soldiers did not intervene. She got out of her car and again shouted and attacked some participants. Again, the soldiers did not stop her. Instead, they started using “crowd dispersal methods”.

On Wednesday, March 3, 2016, IDF soldiers arrived to Khirbet Tana (near Beit Furiq) and demolished 13 buildings including 7 homes.
On February 4, 2016, the IDF demolished all the buildings of two families in Maqaser (near Hamra checkpoint in the Palestinian Jordan valley. West Bank - re. Don't say... # 486). On February 29th they returned, demolishing all the tents and sheepfolds the inhabitants received from aid organisations.

Josephine (a German citizen) is married to a Palestinian resident of Hebron, They live in area H2. She filed an application for residency status with the Palestinian home office, which in turn passed it on (official requirement) to the Israeli authorities – and it was refused. Josephine fears that if she visit her family in Germany she will not permitted to return. The German consulate in Ramalla advised her to take her case to the Israeli court.
On Monday and Tuesday (March 6 and 7) government agents accompanied by police destroyed grain crops belonging to Negev Bedouins: 150 dunums (dunum=1000 sq.m) in Umm Al Hiran (East-North of Hura), 300 dunums in El-Sera (near Kseife), 200 dunums in Tell Al Milh (near El-Sera), 150 dunums in Wadi Al Na'am (near Ramat Hovav).

Palestine-Israel, The eleven years joint struggle in Bil'in as a seed for the third youth intifada.*

At the beginning, the joint struggle in Bil'in of the Israeli Anarchists Against The Wall with the local activists differed only with a consisted Fridays direct actions against the construction of the separation fence. The Israeli state response was a prolonged effort to block the participation of the Israeli activists that failed due to geographic conditions, persistence of the Israeli activists, and our ingenuity. One of the restricting factors on the suppression efforts of the state forces was wide spread sympathy for these demos in the Israeli media, and public. In a desperate efforts the army sent covert agents to initiate stone throwing from the demo on the state force. After a long while they succeeded. Youngsters of the village got into the stone throwing habit. For years it was all over the media and contributed to the stone throwing culture of the Palestinian youth. This was a significant contributor factor to the already 4 months old "Children Intifada".

Bil'in

Friday 19-2-16 Hundreds marched from the centre of the village to the gate of the new separation wall -celebrating 11 years of persistent struggle against the separation wall/fence, settlers, and occupation. The Bil'iners activists were joined by many villagers, activists from Ramallah and neighbouring villages. Participated also bout 70 Israelis with the anarchists against the wall initiative - including 7 members of the anarchist-communist Ahdut (Unity), and dozens of international activists (including US anarchists). After the long march - including the usually forbidden road to the new separation wall we neared the gate in the wall. The Israeli state forces try to disperse us, but the northern wind and the courage of many demonstrators defied it.
Part of us retreated out of the range of the tear gas, but many confronted the state forces and stayed near the gate for a long long confrontation.
Gradually, we retreated and returned to the village.

Palestine-Israel, The joint struggle in the focus of the extreme right "leftists' bashing"

The mounting international pressure on Israel with the B.D.S. as catalyst, initiated a rightist onslaught on the activists of the joint struggle. With cooperation of the main TV channel, two activists were arrested - even blamed to be involved in murder of a Palestinian collaborator of settlements... only to be released unconditionally weeks later. As part of the onslaught I got few seconds in the rightist item in the main TV news program summing our position that no state is a solution - not two states and even one democratic state is impossible to achieve before the Zionist settler colonialist project will be defeated by social revolution in the whole region. In another wide distribution of the rightist video item I was presented as claiming that the chant in the joint demos for freedom to Palestine from the river to the see is not a call for a state for the Palestinians, but for a joint secular democratic state for all the inhabitants - Palestinians, Jews, and others... It seems we owe them rightists for the wide publicity.

Bil'in

29-1-16 Today the weekly demonstration in Bil'in was in solidarity with Mohammed al Qeeq. Muhammad is more than 65 days on hunger strike since he was arrested. This is the way Israeli politics treats you when they want to get rid of you. Stop the occupation and free Mohammed al Qeeq.
4 Israelis and 10 internationals joined the village activists in the weekly demo. Due to the cold whether and the weak wind, the Israeli soldiers were not too active and left even before the usual 30 minutes confrontation.

5-2-16 Bil'in, Friday 5-2-16 This week's demonstration in Bil'in was in solidarity with Palestinian photo journalist, Mohammed Al Qeeq held in prison by occupation forces and has been on hunger strike for 74 days. Even before the demo started, the Israeli forces who came with a bigger than usual number of cars, showered the first barrage of tear gas on few kids who approached to confront them. In the demo participated about dozen Israelis with the anarchists against the wall, ten internationals and about 2 dozen activists of Bil'in. After marching a bit from the village down the hill the state forces stared to shower us with tear gas. The suspicion that the lot of soldiers meant an uglier than usual confrontation was disproved. The massive tear gas clouds and the changing wind just forced us to retreat a bit more than usual before the usual 30 minutes of confrontation ended. Then the state forces drove away and we declared another small victory.

The Israeli state forces "allowed" us to get down from the village and even to cross the olive orchard and start to go up the hill before stopping us with tear gas. Friday 12-2-16: On the 80th day of Muhammad al-Qiq's hunger strike, villagers from Nabi Saleh and solidarity activists confronted the Israeli army demanding to release the journalist immediately. Al-Qiq, a journalist from Dura in the Hebron district, was jailed by Israel without charges or trial. Currently, hundreds of Palestinians are held in administrative detention as well. Al-Qiq launched his hunger strike demanding to be charged or released. Israeli court suspended his administrative detention order, but refused to let him be transferred to a Palestinian hospital. In the past few days reports of al-Qiq's deteriorating health have raised concerned in Palestine and in the international community, and thousands of Palestinians have been protesting all over the country calling for his immediate release.
The IDF attempted to disperse protesters in Nabi Saleh by firing live ammunition in their general direction. The army Also penalized Nabi Saleh residents by closing the main gate connecting the village with Ramallah. No injuries were reported.

The Palestinian Daraghme family, living on the outskirts of Luban-a-Sharqiyya, suffers from repeated attacks by settlers coming from the direction of the neighbouring settlement Ma’ale Levona.
During the night of Thursday, 21st January, 2015, settlers once again attacked the family home. They demolished the five security cameras. The family summoned the police, which arrived only three hours later. As on previous occasions, no searches for the attackers were carried out in the neighbouring settlements.
